No, Freedom is NOT free!

What Do You Dread?

I have read the "Clan of the Cave Bear" series by Jean Auel and have found that there are parts of the books that probably are not appropriate for children, but while browsing through the Youth section at the library, I have seen the series available for children to check out and read.

Do you think that books given to children, in our libraries and schools should be reviewed by adults and censored or removed from the shelves?

I read a library copy of Lie Down With Lions by Ken Follett that a well meaning person censored by cutting out pages and blacking out lines. I didn't like it very much at all, wouldn't wish censorship on anyone. Hopefully most writers take it upon themselves to keep things rated for the reading level and intended audience of the book. No wife swapping going on with the Three Bears.

I think it should be up to the parents, problem is parents dont have time for their kids nowadays.....

Like Bill said, if the "writers would take it upon themselves", would probibally work best.
