Only one light would be on at a time so the load should not change. Anyway i plan on putting HID kits on high and low so it should eliminate the probelm all together

The hid for the stock headlights uses a motorized bulb that tilts up for high beam and down for low beam. I have heard of a lot of people having problems with the motorized bulbs. If you do the sport headlights you can buy 2 standard kits for around $45 each for a total of 4 bulbs. Xenon HID Universal Conversion Kit: Xenon Bulbs, Headlights, Flash Lights & Xenon HID Kits If anybody else has a better source let me know Because I am going to buy 2 kits

HID has good products, but add in the options you must have and they get $$. Trying the get an RMA # from them is like trying to pull teeth. Lousy customer service. Called in saying my high beam on the right side won't come on anymore. Said it's probably the relay. Told to Send in relay (high beams just won't work) and "put a $5 bill in the box" to cover return shipping. Look elsewhere for HID's.

Tip: Stay in the 10,000 Kelvin range. Higher than that they get more purple/Violet. When I ordered I asked about the 12,000 Kelvin Light Violet. Sales guys said: NO

See the older sport compacts running around w/ 20,000-30,000 Kelvin Deep purple HID's. AVOID!

Do you have anyone you recommend. I may be buying before Christmas. I like the 6000 Kelvin much better. The more blue they are the less differential in the terrain that shows up

I tried the HID route last year... until someone makes a real HID lens your whizzing into the wind... ... do a search on all my findings, in short it's all BS at this point and just a kid mod done to a truck or car, if you really analyze it beyond wow that sure looks cool on the garage wall you will find what I am telling you is a fact.

I am a major gearhead beyond these trucks and my pet peeve is kick azz lights for hi speed night runs at night, I bought the best from one of the best HID dudes around... garbage and I was out a large pile of CASH...

the Sport lens with really good bulbs and the SUV harness at this point runs circles around the hid kits and is all we have that works and is legal today.

got my headlights today and the harness wires are the same gauge as stock and the lights came already equipped with bulbs (except the side marker bulb) They appear to be as good of quality as stock. from what I have seen it is hard to beat $169 for an entire setup like this

I put two 6" lightforce lights on the bull bar on the front of my truck and used a relay and tapped it into the high beam wire for the head lights so that when I put the high beams on they will automatically come on. I put a switch in the cab so that I can override these lights when I'm in areas where I'm concerned about getting caught for using off road lights 'on road'. I've done the same thing with the fog lights. I have the offroad lights aimed towards the ditches on each side a little so that I can see the deer and moose well in advance. these lights are awsome, you can rotate the light assembly to change them from flood to spot lights to suit your liking. They also have clear and colours covers for them and are indestuctable from rock impacts which is the main reason why I bought them as I was sick of replacing the glass lenses in the other ones that I had. Two years and not 'yellowing' or any discoloration on the lenses yet.

All six lights really run the idiots off the road who don't dim their lights!

Post some pics of the items you got. Out of the box.

I can get you some pictures of the passenger side only. I was installing the drivers side as you were writing your post. I should have them up tomorrow

I had upgraded bulbs in my headlights already so I swapped it in the highbeam slot. Comparing the high beams with the exact same buld in the original headlight (passengers side) and the new headlight (drivers side) aimed at the garage door from 25' the new lights put out easily twice as much light as the original. A short drive made it even clearer that the new side was way brighter. The fit and finish was perfect and everything you need is in the kit but sawsall blades and grinders. I was surprised at how much sheet metal had to be cut away. And if you reverse the high beam and low beam harness the light will be very dim (I learned the hard way)

Here's my heaadlights. Got 'em on e-bay for $157 w/ all bulbs. Way better coverage. They wired in the same as sport headlights. I modified myself w/ relay feed for the high beams. Low beams are projectors and high beams super bright. They have LEDs and Halo around projectors.

I just ordered the sport lights from headlightsdepot as well. Now I'm waiting for the wiring harness from SUVlights to arrive, and maybe I'll actually be able to see where I'm going again at night.

Did you get your harness from SUV yet? Ordered mine on 12/9 still not here, called and got hung up on when I asked why the have not shipped yet.

JD

I have a harness from SUV lights and I like the harness but I'm not impressed with the quality. I would have expected the connections to be soldered and heat shrinked. Nope! They were crimped and taped. Looked pretty bad. After burning two of the sockets and customer support telling me tough luck after the second one. I said to heck with it and bought four of the ceramic plugs from autolumination after the advice of a fellow board member. I soldered and heat shrinked the connections and now all is good. I would recommend Daniel sterns harness stuff.

Being as the SUVlights never showed I guess I'll never know about the quality issues. Sent an email to Daniel Sterns but never got a reply, looks like I'm going to build my own.

Autolumination

Go to www.autolumination.com Tail Light Brake Light Turn Signal LED Bulbs They have ALL the supplies you need to make your own harness. I wish now that I had made my own harness. It would have been more difficult and time consuming, but you would have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Also, go ahead & spend the extra and buy the ceramic plug ends. If you don't know how to solder..... LEARN HOW!!!

I used this tutorial...

YouTube - How to Do It: Basic Soldering

Practiced for a couple of hours and learned how when I put my ceramic ends on. Soldering and heat shinking is the key.

Good luck with however you decide to do it.

Craig

Soldering is not a problem, I'm and electrical engineering guy. Wipped up a schematic this morning. Need one for each side.

Smart aleck

Smart Aleck... . :D

LOL. I guess being an electrical engineer makes that sort of thing pretty easy. Really like the schematic. Thanks for posting it.

I have a few road trips and a hunting trip under my belt with the new lights installed and it is a huge difference. Best purchase I have made for my truck so far and it exceeded my expectations.
