Competition Thunder in Muncie.....thanks!

8000 Open class saturday night Pulls @ Thunder in Muncie.

The event of the night.

Smokin' Dave Mitchell Vs The Scheid truck (Kent Crowder, Dan Scheid)

Mitchell was out before Scheid (amongst a host of other trucks).

The Mitchell truck spooled and came out shakey and let out.

The operators pulled the sled back, Dave tried again and it was about the same.

This time Dave unhooked and drove the truck to the parking lot.

Couple trucks later Scheids truck rolls out of the woodwork and hooks to the sled.

Start of the pull:

Spoooooooooooooooooooooll Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Kent takes off out of the hole spinning tires all the way and shooting smoke out of the one stack protruding from the hood (probably 100 feet in the air).

At about 250 feet the truck was still accelerating (where everyone else was dying).

About 275 the track started to bite, but he still managed a 300+ foot pull.

I forget the exact number, but the crowd went absolutely nuts!

Other pulls that stood out to me were.

Genes win in the 7200 open, an obvious win. Sledpuller had the chargers lit real well.

Rob Thomas' pull in one of the street classes (good one!).

Clint Cannon of ATS had some good pulls with the Duramax.

Van Haisley had a good win, I think it was the 7200 street (I forget exactly).

Haisley's twinned truck broke, if I remember correctly popped a gasket or chargers (dont know for sure).

The EEP/Mitchell truck that is Bronze/Brown color also demonstrated some great pulls last night.

J. R. Adkins blew a charger in about 5 seconds, had it lit and sent it into orbit.

Curt Haisley also sent his charger into orbit as he started his spool.

Mike Meinecke (ATS Diesel) (Twins, ATS auto)

Mike had a great pull until his Dana 70 decided to check out of the hotel (without him). I think his pull was 277 feet (dont remember for sure).

Sean ATS Powerstroke pulled twice, second time broke his front right hub.

Strick9 Broke something at about 200 feet (not sure what happend, looked bad though).

Congratulations to the Scheid Truck pulling Team.

You guys proved AGAIN that you are #1.

GO INDIANA!

Oh Yah

The Schieds truck was awesome as usaul and even left the track under his own power, its a shame that Dave couldnt get off the line I think it would have been a great pull.

Talk about over powering the track, Mitchell caught air, and pulled the sled with him!! :--)

Congrats to the whole Schieds crew!

Justin..... :p

Anyone else notice how that black dually (Scheid) was smoking all 6 tires on the dirt as he was pulling?!

JR's bad luck transferred to me - he rode with me as I attempted to pull for the first time. The pump will be setup correctly next time - I guarantee it. ;)

Dear Cummins Correvette,

A cam plate is a MUST. It helps you from lugging the engine with TOO much fuel, at various RPM's, when your turbos aren't spooling. :p ;)

Matt,

I wasn't laughing due to the fact that I've never seen a CTD hop like that and not break something... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . either you have an extraordinary drivetrain or you're one lucky dude !! Larry

My congratulations to Dan Scheid and Kent Crowder and the entire Scheid Racing Crew on one heck of a great pull at Muncie!!! 310 feet (as I recall)!!

I know how hard you guys have worked this past year!!!

Again,... ... . CONGRATULATIONS!!

I keep telling people that I didn't have enough power to break anything..... :)

Luck was on my side, so were new parts - I had 3 fresh U-joints in my drivetrain too, that couldn't have hurt too much.

I'm about to replace mine in my truck before I start pulling in some street classes... . any suggestions on brand?

Buddy of mine who works for Advance Auto Parts suggested Precision U-joints from Napa... . said he ran them in race cars and they held up extremely well???

Hey,, J. R. ALMOST got his truck back together for the 2nd pull.

-------------------

Chris' truck busted a nut on the little turbo.

---------

I felt bad for one of the guys that pulled towards the begining of the event,, couldn't even get the sled out fo the hole. He could spool his turbo, he got his clutch to hook, but only spun both right side tires and couldn't budge the sled.

It didn't sound like Schieds was spinning as much RPM as last year.

Anybody else watch Doug (ADT) pull with his '01 Dually?

How about that guy who grabbed another gear halfway down the track?!

You have a very good ear for a Texan!

And yes, Doug had a really great pull. Very smooth, lots of traction.

Mark, take some measurements or take the shaft out and to a drive-line shop and see what they have, if it uses a 1350 U-Joint you can get Brute Strength's for cheap, I tried this prior to Muncie and mine are 1410's which the best one's I could find were the stock ones. Word of caution, stay away from greaseable ones, there hollow, non-greaseable ones are solid!
