Just came back from a trip hauling my 8000 lb. trailer. Noticed, on the flat of course, no overdrive in the mountains thank you, a shudder between 6lbs boost and about 12 lbs. For sure it's the overdrive, since kicking it out, the shudder goes away immediately. Also, less boost or more it goes away. Of course this boost is at normal cruising speeds. It's a cyclical type of shudder, almost like the tires are out of balance. With the trailer or without it does this. Truck has 18000 miles on it, 350 dually with an Ez on it. We had a discussion on tdr, about how to increase line pressure by turning a bolt on the transmission one to one and a half turns. Would this engage the torque converter" harder' to stop this? It is very annoying and feels as though you're on a rough road. If you feel as though this increase would help with this problem could you go over how and where this bolt thingee is and how to do it? thanks, guys,,, Neil

This could be the wastegate in the turbo - mine will do it periodically whether towing or not - only fix is to replace the turbo. Hope this helps!

Hemiville, sounds like your TC clutch "shuddering". While towing a 6500# trailer, I can shudder the TC clutch when pushing the pedal for more power if the rpm's are low. Keep the rpms above 1800 - 2000 and it won't happen. I'd recommend talking with the folks at DTT, they were very helpful. I've got a new TC and VB on my Xmas list for this year :)

having the EZ and towing a lot of weight uphill must having been slipping your converter clutch. over time this causes the converter clutch to warp and not seal right from the heat of slippage. the warped cover with bad sealing= the shudder.

i've upped my line pressures through the stock valve body. with the 24valves, you have to check pressure before and after because the stock tolerances can be very different from transmission to transmission. the pressures may help some, but you're limited to what the stock seals can take.

Id have to say it's the torque converter eating it's self. Mine started that same way. It will only get worse and you will have to replace it eventualy. As time goes on it will do the "sutter bug suffle" even without the trailer, on hard acceleration. I'd get me a large coffee can, and write on it's side in big bold letters,"NEW TRANSMISSION FUND" and start saving. Good luck:--)

My TC clutch slips like crazy every time I get on it. Clutch is toast. If I ever get any money up, I'll be doing a full upgrade, till then, i'm just babying it. I tried turning up line pressures, but every seal in my transmission seems to be leaking.
