HELP !!!!!

Lately I have felt a shudder for a moment on take offs. Most noticable when taking off from a stop and turning, but it did it once today as well in a straight line take off. Trans fluid is in safe area hot in neutral and still red. Almost felt like trans slipped on a straigh accel, but tire could have spun ???? The shudder feels usually like 3 or 4 little stutters again mainly from a start turning a corner. Trans is 48RE / HO with EZ 3. 73 limited Slip with 315's

Any suggestions? :( :(

I hope DC has fix soon, It seems most 2500/3500 have this problem. I known I do and tire of it ,almost a year now with shudder.

lawdog, You have a 2 piece drive line with the main carrier (center support) by the middle u-joint. It is most likely that with the extra torque (EZ) and big tires that the drive shift is fully loaded on take off and defecting more than normal in the carrier, hence the shudder. Does it happen is you take off real sloooooow? I had this happen on a ford that was lifted (2"). Anyway my 2 cents. If it is the carrier, it no big deal other than possible premature wear.

If it is just doing it on a turning start it is probably your limited slip. It will do that while turning during acceleration. Something else to look at especially if it is doing it accelerating straight away is your u-joints. That was my problem, the rear u-joint. I replaced the u-joint and haven't had any more problems. I do have the shudder while turning and accelerating, especially with a load on, but for what it is worth, I believe it is a characteristic of the limited slip unit in these axles and have quit worrying about it.

No Carrier bearing on mine, I have a short bed QC and I just checked, just a shaft with a balancer on it by t-case output.

mine does it - at 1000 miles on clock i loaded 2700lbs of wood in it - carried all around for 400 miles so far - never had shudder while unloaded
