My 03 has a 10. 5" and a limited slip 3. 73 ratio. From 0-3 mph there is a shutter so bad it shakes the mirrors so you can hardly see out of them only when turning slightly either direction. Straight on it fine and above 5 mph or so its fine. Only just as I take off. The dealer said it is a standard occurance for "this type of rear axle". I dont believe it because it didn't do it until after they installed a new ring & pinion. I assumed it needed to be driven some to "work" fluid back into clutch plates as they were cleaned off when out for R&P. But there are no plates I find out now and wondering what to do. Is this a normal thing for any of you?

If anyone is interested I posted a reply on my other tread titled "advice on handling lying service writers" that gets detailed on this and my opinion to what it could be on page 2.

Shudder when turning

Shudder has been with me since new. 04. 5, 20,000mi. 2500 series . Two Dodge dealers said to add friction modifier. I showed them that instructions say "no modifier" but they both said add anyway. I added modifier, but no change, still shudder at low speed, especially reverse. I keep watching TDR to see if there's any new knowledge, but it still seems to be a mystery.

I just purchased a new 2006 3500 quad auto lsd 3. 73. (under 1000 miles)

Today just noticed a shudder when turning left from a stop and climbing a steep grade on wet pavement.

Had not noticed it before. Runs smooth as silk on the highway, otherwise.

No other vibrations or anything.

Have not noticed anything on right turns or straight ahead, yet.

I did a search on launch shudder and there is some info on driveline angles that might work or it may be u joints?

There is a TSB for launch shutter for short beds, mine is a long bed. No major driveshaft angles here. And the TSB is for all driving conditions that would pinpoint a driveshaft problem. Mine only does it when turning indicating to me it is inside the diff. It is in the shop now getting a new diff under warranty.

Interesting. "Launch shudder". So it actually has a name. My truck has done that since day one when accelerating from a stop and turning left. 172,000 miles and it's never gotten any worse. I'll mention the TSB next time I take the truck in and see if they fix it. Jeff
