I just made my frist pull with the EZ, real
nice. Now i have a shudder at lockup when
I,m on it. Will synthetics or anything else
help? I know i need the TC & VB upgrades but
just can,t do it right now.
The EZ is on the middle jumper.
Stock other then EZ. Thanks for any advice.

I'm bone stock except for the EZ (for now), and mine shudders on the most agressive setting when I get on it with about 10k behind my truck. Only thing that will help short of putting your EZ on the least aggressive setting is a new TC and VB. I'm gonna have Bill K. bring my stuff with him when he comes to Muncie Indiana for the GLTDR Thunder in Muncie event June 9th and 10th (saves me shipping costs #ad
).

You should come on down to Muncie and investigate your options.

pulled one A/T and never changed VB,But i
do everything else on my truck,Maybe I,ll

as you can see by the sig, ive done a few mods. as soon as i installed the van aaken, my truck started to shudder in 4'th lock up. ive had a DTT DT and VB installed and it still does it but not as bad. my installers also have the Dtt mods and also has the shudders. they say its nothing to worry about. should happen with any fueling mods..... james...

RAMHEAD If you have shuddering AFTER The DTT VB & TC install you better give Bill K. a call, That is not normal.
 
I think i,m going to try the EZ on the last
setting if it still shudders i,ll unplug it
untill i can get VB & TC.
It,s going to rough unpluging it after towing
with it. Maybe i,ll run up an see Bill K it,s
only 2500 miles from me. Last week we drove 250 miles for supper. THANKS FOR THE INFO.

Are you getting the shudder around 12mph? Because mine was starting to have that slight problem under real light throttle then Joel (person who put in the DTT TC VB for me) told me that thats the sileniod (spelling?) in the valve body. Bill K. does NOT give you replacements, but he does reccomend to change it. I think he should consider selling with the VB.

ramhead does not have a shudder , what he is confusing as a shudder is actually the fact his truck needs the 18-02-99 reflash for erratic lockup apply , his truck continuly goes in and out of lockup , i put about about 170 miles on his truck with it doing this , he will be fine once this is done .

mac b the shudder you feel is either the TC lockup clutch attempting to slip or a slight erratic power surge of the cummins that is overcoming the dampner spring pressure in the lockup clutch hub .

i run dextron 3 in my truck and the shudder is so slight i thought it was the road surface , plus it hardly if ever shudders , ramhead drove my truck but i don't know what he thought the shudder was ?????? i and massdiesel did his install , if he felt a shudder in massdiesel's then i don't know if it is real or not , but massdiesel presently has a pro-torque not a DTT TC .

mac b as far as what to do , i would put the EZ in its least aggressive setting , fueling after 20 psi boost , of couse with a stock ram you'll have timing change only , not sure what that will do for you ? what setting do you have it in now ?

I have it in the middle right now. The only
time it shudders is 3rd gear lockup,It,s not
to bad unless i,m going up a incline.
I,m going to try it(EZ)on the lowest setting.
See what happens.
VB & TC takes away from my travelin money

Hello bombers,I have been reading all your threads about all the different mods available,E-Z seems to be the favorite,is this one the most reliable ?? should I start my bombing journey with one of these??and do t/c & v/b next?? I have a 98 1/2 24 valve 1 ton dually with b/d brake I'm running around 10k with utility bed and tools,power is really good but I know transmission is little slugish. whatta yall think. thanks,jdmjoe
 
Try locking out the OD until you reach about 50mph. Also, you need to maintain at least 1500RPMs while in lockup - this will keep the transmission's pump pressure up and might help with your shudder problem until you get a good TC / VB.

I,m not sure what rpm, think around 2000
I was headed out with 5er and it did it on the first two 3rd gear lockups. I always lockout OD until i hit 60 mph.
That shudder does,nt give you a good feeling.
So i unhooked the EZ for the rest of the trip.

mac , rpm is important , if it shudders in 3rd , i would expect it to do it in od worse as the rpms are down .

i would get a VB in there as a first step to up your pressure and make sure its not your TC slipping . how many miles since your last trans fluid change?

I just got to my frist oil change. I don,t have a problem wthout the EZ, No matter how hard i hit it. That was my first pull with the diesel and the shudder took me by surprise so i just unpluged it.
The EZ papers says-
setting 1-Trucks with large injectors
setting 2-trucks with moderate injectors
setting 3-trucks without injectors
Were would stock injectors fit in there?

My 2$ worth, being bucks are more valuable than cents; not to be confused with sense, is power up the trans before you power up the engine(better yet trade it in for a stick). Consider it an evolution; trans up-grade, boost module,then 275's, etc,etc,etc... .
