I know this was discussed sometime back, could'nt find search info.

What is the best way to turn engine off, clutch depressed or not?

I've been doing it both ways over time but my guess is to not depress clutch when shutting down.

I never like to turn motor off, I just got to sometimes. Paul

Thanks for your replys Chip, that's what I thought. For some time when the rig was new (10k) I used to push it in on account of being dumb, but I know more now and have'nt been jerking the trans. unnecisarily. Hope I did'nt hurt the chutch, time will tell.

The pilot brearing is probably the weakest link in the stock clutch. I would suggest not holding down the clutch pedal if the truck is not going to be moving. Same thing for sitting at stoplights or sitting still for more than several seconds.

MikeR hit the nail on the head. Tiny little needle bearings have been known to dimple the pilot shaft on the transmission. New input shaft runs about $100 -150.
