Somebody help me here. I have gotten confused in the operation and timing of the solenoid. Comming home friday driving about 65 the truck just quit. I managed to get over to the emergency lane and stopped. I had no fuel in the filter and couldn't get any there. Then I noticed when the key was turned on the plunger didn't pull up. I thought it did at that time. When I pulled it up by hand it would stay. Just when does it pull up? Any way I'm pretty sure the lift pump quit. I know the tank had fuel cause I put 10 more in when I stopped. I have a tank on the work trailer.

Just when does that little bugger pull up?

It only pulls up when the key is turned to start.

Even if the lift pump fails while you're driving the truck shouldn't stall as the injection pump will suck. I'm thinking either the prefilter in your fuel heater is plugged or you have a leak that is sucking air causing the injection pump to lose prime.

Cleaning the prefilter here-
