Air ride controller pump

30ft gooseneck on 92 w250

If our trucks will not pull it, then there are none out there that will. I pulled a Kaiser M-715 and trailer home to Central Kansas from Northern Iowa, ran on the cruise at 78 mph most of the way and averaged over 11 mph, almost 12. Not bad, I had a buddy with a Hemi 2 WD 1500 that is only getting 13 on the road, empty. My gross weight was just a little over 18,000 pounds, more than your trailer, but you will catch a lot more wind than I did. My truck never kicked off of cruise, downshifted, or lost speed going uphill. I had two friends with me and we were all impressed. Mine is a 4x4 03 3. 73 slushbox with an Edge EZ. Glen

I've towed my 36ft triple axle, triple slide for over 4 years now with my '93 W250. I've gone coast to coast. I've cruised at 75 mph on the slab for some 12 hour legs of the trips. But, I didn't do this on the stock transmission. It's all been done with the Pro-Lock/Suncoast. I haven't had one single issue. Being a 4x4 has got me out (and others) from wet campgrounds.

My 99' 5 speed 4x4 with STOCK clutch and 3:55's rolls down the road w/ 18. 5k GCWR like no bodys business and still gets around 12 mpg. It has done it for severl years now. Tell the nay sayers to drop dead!!

PS. . I would REALLY like a SBC though...

It will pull it easily, but with the pin weight of 3030 (dry), that puts you well over your GVWR for your truck.

My trailer can go over my limit if I load it too front heavy. But it tows wonderfully. Even my wife enjoys towing it.

I am so tired of people doubting the power and performance of our trucks. So give me some help on this one guys. I am in the process of getting a new fifth wheel it has a dry weight of 10,715 pounds. I have an 03 2500 6sp. w/EZ tuner. The people I work with say it won't pull it? Who's wrong? I think it will pull it with ease. :-{}

Odds are pretty good that I delivered that trailer to the dealer. If I didn't, there's better than a 50% chance another hauler with a Ram did. If it's already at the dealers lot, ask him what drug it in from the manufacturer's location. Course, they're empty when I haul um, maybe people load um up to where you might need a MDT to haul it. Not that it affects private trucks yet, but I've seen DOT put commercial 3/4 t haulers OOS for being over their axle weight. This specifically was the St George, UT POE.

It will pull it with ease, but a lawyer will win the lawsuit when you in an accident with ease also!!!

By the time you even put personal gear in that fiver (let alone what you plan on hauling in the back) you will be over on your trucks GVWR. Get sued once in civil court for gross negligence and you may wish you listened to your friends.

With the trailer at a GVWR of 15,000 my advice would be to get a bigger truck or get a smaller trailer. We all will be safer.

The best way to find out how much your truck will handle is talk to your insurance co. See is they will back you if you are , say 2000 lbs over what Dodge says the CGVWR is. If they say "no problem" get it in writing and go for it.

That trailer could be a $1,000,000 trailer in court.

The problem is that the people selling the rv's don't care if you pull a 12,000 lb trailer with a 1/2 ton truck, and they will lie in court about saying that it will handle it nicely.

"and they will lie in court about saying that it will handle it nicely. "

Dave hit the nail on the head. In the campground I'm at, there is a 31 ft TT that was towed in by a F*rd Ranger. Granted, I'm no weight angel... but this even made my eyes bug out.

Follow Up on RV

Okay camper pulls great and stops fine. It actually pulls bests between 60 and 70mph. I have a B&W system on the truck and the RV dealer suggests airbags. Does anyone know where to get some that will bolt on with the B&W mounting? Also noticed that I get another 1 1/2 to 2 mpg since unhooking from camper, does that make since?

The only concern I see is your pin weight. That's too high for even a SRW 3500. You should weigh the rear axle of your truck hitched up just to make sure your tires aren't overloaded. If you are within axle and tire specs you should be safe.

running with to much weight not only has the liability probs but if your truck is still under warranty and you go in for a repair do not brag to the dealer about how much your towing/hauling over weight . He can deny warranty if to much weight caused the prob. I'm speaking from experience... ... ... ... . JIM
