I am truly sorry for all of you that are upset at the price of fuel and are regretting getting a diesel. That being said there are 6 threads in this forum alone with members crying about the price of diesel- It is up, yes it sucks... . do us all a favor and DON'T START ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT IT- If it is that big of a deal, sell your truck and buy a gas/ electric hybrid. I am tired of the *****ing... ... . Lets do some math: diesel at 2. 50 per gallon x 35 gallons = 87. 50 per fillup- 18 mpg = 630 miles - Mid-grade unleaded 2. 10 per gallon x 35 gallons 73. 50 per fillup - 12 mpg + 420 miles

630 divided by 87. 50 per tank = 7. 20 miles per dollar on diesel

420 divided by 73. 50 per tank = 5. 71 miles per dollar on gas

Stop crying- you could have a hemi and be worse off :{ :{

AMEN

I posted the chase marathon mastercard home page to about half of those threads ... 10% off for 2 mths and 5% off for life ... . it seems people want to complain about the prices but dont do anything to help there selves.

Why don't ya tell us how you really feel:D. Good points, I'm glad someone pointed that info out on miles per dollar of fuel. I think the fuel prices are the way they are because of the 07 emission and diesel fuel standards coming up, the push for diesel autos, someone high up trying to put a sour taste in ones mouth trying to keep folks from buying diesel powered autos, and when/if we do have diesel engines as an option in more passenger vehicles, folks that aren't good at math will say, hell I can't afford a diesel, cause diesel fuel is SOOO expensive... . Higher diesel prices now, might make the auto manufacturers not what to push to have them. . GW in office- oil execs/ auto execs??

Timbeaux, agreed there are too many diesel price threads, I'm guilty of starting one (most came after mine though). You'd probably complain too if you were paying $2. 70- $2. 90 per gallon like many of us in the NW (where are you getting $2. 50 from??) :p

To recalculate based on what we're paying we get 6. 2 miles per dollar here @ 18mpg ;)

AH Im offended! I enjoy the repeated threads, how dare you! I just might sell and get a ferd gasser! better yet Im going back to my 6. 2!

NOT! haha I agree they are becomming overwhelming and boring. I have a hard enough time reading over all the others! come home and there are 300 new posts... its a little daunting!

BTW I wont ever sell the CTD! as for the 6. 2 I think about sticking it with the forks on the backhoe and hauling it to the junk yard :mad:

How do you think I feel I make the S*** for a living. I'm almost afraid to chime in on any of the threads regarding diesel anymore :(

Thanks for posting this!!!! I think that everytime I see a thread about prices. Those people obviously dont understand the purpose of a diesel pickup and in turn must not need one. I did my conversion because I was sick of getting passed on the hills by 1960's motorhomes with old hippies driving them all while gettting 5-6mpg loaded and 8-10 empty. Now I get 11-13 loaded and 15-17 empty also with a larger heavier trailer. Where is the savings in buying gasoline???? The way I see it gas would have to be 4. 30 per gallon right now for it to be any cheaper. Then I would be back to 25mph up any mountain pass. I'm sorry but I would still pay a premium to pull a hill with any dignity. ;)

Back when Noah first got off the ark (1955), I bought about 4 ½ gallons of gas for an hour’s pay. Do the math and things might not look all that bad today.

$2. 50 is about the national average-I paid 2. 09 last night- My #'s were for illustration purposes to show those who think the grass is greener that the green fuel is still indeed greener (that probably did not make any sense)

Anyway, the way I figue it, it is still cheaper for me to drive my truck than a 1/2 ton v8 4wd- am I happy that Diesel has doubled in the time I have been buying it? Not really, but I never *****ed when gas doubled either, because I have to have it, and *****ing would be a waste of breath.

I agree the threads get old but I just skip by those threads. Unfornunately I can't just skip by all of the gasoline oriented people who like to comment on the prices to me, the diesel oriented person, because they think its somehow makes a diesel less desirable . I usually tell them its still a better buy than gas and I would never drop back to a gasoline powered truck.

You're missing the point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DIESEL should be $1. 80/GALLON MAX at these $$$$$ -

630 divided by $63. 00 per tank = 10. 00 miles per dollar on diesel

BUT where I live it is now $2. 85 - and your turn is just around the corner buckaroo... .

630 divided by $99. 75 per tank = 6. 31 miles per dollar on diesel---

OH and BTW -

?????? how much is Diesel AND Fuel in Baghdad at the stations where the normal folks buy fuel (hint KBR is giving us a deal-- $1. 75/gallon)???

Answer::::

A frigging NICKEL/GALLON!!!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: Talk about selling refrigerators to ESKIMOS - this is the biggest scam I can ever remember!
