My friend just bought an 05 and after driving it I remembered how nice it was to have a quiet rig. it just sounds so much more refined. Unfortunatly when I straight piped my truck I threw away the factory muffler.

Is there any muffler out there that is as quiet as the factory muffler w/o impeding flow as much? I want the absolute quietest muffler I can get my hands on.

Any help would be appreciated and BTW if anyone has a stock muffler they wanna get rid of let me know, because if I dont find a quiet aftermarket muffler I will be lookin for a stock one :)

Thanks

Dave

Most of the big straight through muffs are good. None will be as quiet as stock but they also don't impede the flow as much either. I bought a full 4" system from Rip with a straight through muff and I don't hear the exhaust at all with the windows up.

get a 51" Donaldson...

I love the sound of quiet CTD's where all you can hear is the rattle under the hood, but it's too boring for my taste... I gotta hear the whole symphony

I'll trade ya my stocker for your st8 pipe! PM me if you are interested in a trade.

Thanks,

Andy

BTW, truck has 40k miles, and I live in the south. Just wanted to add that it's not rusted out or "trashed" in any way.

... and if you don't want to trade, I'd be interested in buying the pipe section.

Hey Dave,

M090544 is the Donaldson number. My local muffler shop ordered it for me.

I even tried a Donaldson "Silent Partner" series muff and it made more noise than the M090544 and had a horrible drone.

The M090544 will flow more than the little 5. 9 can dish out and is pretty quiet, just a tad more noise than stock. Its 4" in and out and works with the stock tail pipe.

walker muffler

gio to napa and get the walker 36 inch muffler part number 21471. it's $86! they will be able to get the muffler the same day if they dont have it. i have on on my 04. 5 and love it. just a tad louder then stock in the cab but will turn heads outside the truck. and ohhhh the sweet turbo whistle! good luck!... . james :D

Ditto ... straight through & no "louvers" in the flow. I had them put it on "forward" of the old one ... killed the 4" drone. :)

I had a Donaldson & it was too quiet. Might not be a issue with yours though.

I have the stock muffler from my old 2002 if someone wants it. I'll have the stock muffler from my '04. 5 is someone wants that too. I just need to get the muffler elimination kit from Genos.

I have Stock Muffler 03 its yours if you pay for the shipping, or any one who wants it.

down here, you can go look behind any muffler shop, and there'll be two or three of those mufflers sitting in their scrap bin. a lot cheaper/easier than shipping one.
