I am in need of a set of side-bars, you know the kind with steps. This new truck is too tall for this short little blond that I'm married too. Thought it would be cheaper to buy side-bars than too find a new wife, that was a little taller. I relly like the Waag kick-out side-bars for my Dually truck. However the only dealers that I can find are really off the wall. One says two to three months to get a set. The other says over $800. 00 for a set of black painted bars. Now this can not be right. Any body out there know of anyone else that makes a kick-out bar for 1 ton's?Thanks Gunny

What I got isn't exactly side bars. They are running boards that are made out of 1½" pipe with expanded metal on top. I'm sure you could get it without the expanded metal or even have them put diamond plate steel on top.

Give them a call and ask if you want. The company is Browns Welding. Their number is 1-800-625-8712.

Here's a pic I just took:

I paid about $250. 00 for my Westin Stainless steel CHROME plated bars INSTALLED. $800. 00 for black bars is absurd. Check out Westin, Go Rhino, Smittybilt or MAAP to name a few. They all make side bars in black, chrome or stainless. I have seen black bars for the quad cab for $190. 00. Also check out www.summitracing.com they carry Westin and Smittybilt and frequently have sales. Otherwise pick up any truck magazine and you will find TONS of dealers who sell that stuff cheap.

I paid about 250 for a set of MAAP black, installed. No complaints with the quality and rubber tread for front and rear doors. I need to drop a lanyard down fron the passenger over head grab handle to get the best half in unassisted. I hate the step stool in the bed because she cant reach it either:(

Gunny - I got the WAAG's with dually kickouts in Tucson for $440 installed. It took 3 or 4 weeks for them to come in, finally got them installed the day before a trip to Florida. They are a must in order to get stuff out of the truck bed.

Call or email WAAG direct and they will tell you who the retailers are in your area, here is the website WAAG .

Make sure you specify the bright aluminum steps when you order or they come black. I'm not positive but I thing the tubes are black only. (Just checked their site, looks like chrome tubes are available)

John-

My brain finally clicked! I didn't realize it was you that had those beautiful Waags! I want them! However, I think that the Tork-lift camper tie-downs are going to interfere witht the tube. Please tell me if you find out differently.

Maybee one of these shots may give ya a view on interference of the camper mounts ?

Hey guy's thanks for the response.

These bars are the ones I want on my truck. However trying to deal with these people at Waag is no fun at all. They will not return an e-mail, they do not deal direct, and really got nasty when I tried to find a dealer in my area, seems that I had used there 800 # and they did'nt like that at all.

John : Thanks for the contact information on Ronda, I called her and she is looking into getting me a set. However she is having a hard time getting a current price, seems like Waag does'nt like dealing with there own dealers any more than they like dealing with the public.

David, take a quick peek at TMTT's online pictures in this thread :p can you take some similar pictures of your setup with the Torqlifts in place for comparison purposes and post them here please .

If there is a chance of the WAAGs interfering with the torklift mounts in the conventional position, is there any latitude in the position of the Torklift installation location? Thanks! :D

I think that they will definitely interfere. There is no latitude in the position of the Torklift installation location. There is a slight possibility that if the Waag's can be slightly raised, I can then lower the angle of my Torklifts to clear. The problem for you is that the new Torklifts have a "fixed" angle (you must have missed my reply under "camper tie-downs. "

I will try to simulate "The tool man's" pictures, however, I have a slight problem. I can either take quick lousy digital pictures with a real old digital campera, or else I can take the extra time to use my Nikon which then has to have the film developed and then use my photoscanner. I'll try the lousy digital this weekend.

Torklift and WAAGs together?

David, here's a thought... . why don't you phone the Toll-free number for Torklift and point them to this thread form comment? I'd do it myself but toll-free access is not possible from overseas?

I've already been through all of that, John. I have contacted Tork-lift and MANY nerf bar/running board manufacturer's and no one wants to make a comment regarding somebody else's product. I've been trying to find some kind of "acceptable" side step since I got the truck. I just gave priority to the Tork-Lift tie-downs. The worse part is that nobody has items in stock-they have to be ordered.

David, here's your opportunity to start a trend..... finally - pictures of my own WAAG side tubes installed with their mounting positions shown more easily than in TMTT's earlier pictures.

Can you please explain why, for instance, the Torklift camper tiedowns could not share the frame mounting areas. See the pics below
