Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) side cover replacement

i pulled the injection pump out to replace the side cover gasket on my 95 and was wondering if any one else put some sealer on the gasket or any other ideas to make sure it doesnt leak again . and also since i have it this far apart anything else i should do? it isnt one of my favorite jobs to do although it will be easier to do next time.

I put super weatherstrip adhesive inside the lip going over the cover, and cleaned the block with lacquer thinner. Next day I installed, with gasket to block dry. Be sure the rubber washers around the bolts are good, or replace them.

Tappet Cover

My Tappet cover started to leak real bad after i pulled on thursday.



Would just a RTV silicone work on the gasket???

and what is the tourgue specs on the bolts???

I have always installed them dry if you use RTV it will leak clean block with break clean let dry then install cover DRY. Also be sure and check the grid under the breather to make sure it is open

i used weather stripping adhesive in the gasket we will see what happends
