Well I just spent $400 on Lucerix mirrors. Trailer Life did a big article on how large the viewing area is (very good, huge compared to factory). I had slipped on the add-on mirrors in the past when pulling the 5er, and wanted something more permanent that didn't giggle in the wind. Enter Lucerix.
The install went easy, with minimal problems, particularly since I purchased the trim tool. Went out for the first ride, going around 55mph and then on up to 70mph. The driver's side had some vibration, but the passenger was horrible. I decided to give it a real try on a trip to Wyoming, about 1,000 miles the following weekend. Whoa... . it was terrible, the passenger mirror giggled the whole way so bad I couldn't see out of it, and actually dropped down to the lowest setting (I purchased the full electric/heated model). Needless to say, I called Lucerix and asked for a replacement... to their credit they complied and sent a new passenger unit out and I received in about a week. Re-install, and subsequent field trip showed the unit was much better. I took it on a recent trip again, another 400 miles, and real conditions showed the mirror wobbles on the side that the wind is blowing on. I never noticed this problem on the factory mirrors.
My question is... has anyone had better luck with these mirrors? Have you had better luck with other types of mirrors?
Thanks in advance for any info.
