I have a Silver 05 Laramie Quad Cab 4x4 2500... The side molding has faded. It seems like the shiny layer is gone and it is now yellowing and has a rough, sort of porous, feel to it.

If I remove these side strips are there hols underneath or is it just stuck there with adhesive tape? If I replace them where can I get a set of chrome strips that wont fade?

Thanks!

Get Duplicolor exact match,,, tape it off, sand it, wipe it down and repaint... Works like a CHAMP! They are easier to paint then metal. I have done this,,, also lots of fixed plastic bumpers etc. Or, you can buy new ones...

Mine are getting a little dull as well on the Dark Garnet.

One thing I'm surprised has not come up is the paint coming off of the air-air tanks on the older aluminum models ... ... ... ... I know the newer ones are plastic.

sounds like i am not the first to have this happen. Thanks for the info!

Nope your not alone. Took mine to dealer last week and asked for replacement(under 36,000 miles on truck). I was happily surprised, the dealer ordered a new replacement under the warranty.

If your refering to the strip along the body, mine was fading and I put a coat of Mothers Back to Black on it every other wash and it looks as good as new.

Just a thought.

I used the Back to Black on my truck, on the bumper covers, mirrors, door handles, etc. It helped some with MANY coats, but didn't work that great. I think painting it with bumper black is the best choice.
