We are getting ready to paint my 97(finally) and wanted to know what you thought about putting side molding back on after its painted. The side molding and the badges are going to come off so that its a complete job...

Ok... lets hear it. Also where can you get aftermarket molding...

Thanks

Rick

OK, I think a lot of it depends on the color. I don't have any molding on my new truck, and it looks pretty good. If I put any on, it'll be the chrome Laramie style to complement the chrome wheels and the chrome nerf bars.

I had a '97 before and didn't really like the molding that came with it, although you could put the moldings from a '98 on it and they look much better. Joe Donnelly did an article in a past TDR magazine when he had gotten hit and I think he went to a new style '98 molding on his truck.

My 2¢ worth (keep the change!)

its definately a matter of opinion, so here's mine. I like them "clean" so I don't have any molding on mine. I think they look great like that (even with the parking lot scars). :p

I think if you decide it "needs" molding put back on after the paint, definately go with the '98 and up trim, I think it looks much better, or even the new chrome trim they have on those new fangled third gens.
