I always hated steps on trucks especially in deep snow and rough terrain but now after 20 years 1 hip replacement both knees and a couple of hernias I need help getting in. Not a little guy but 6 ft 6 inches and 300 lbs of 69 year old grandpa I needed input from someone like me what kind of step will help me get in and out easier and better. Thanks

This has been a popular topic lately. At the risk of sounding like a broken record I'd recommend the AMP steps. I had tube steps on my 06 but I hated the looks of them and they really didn't help much getting in/out. The AMP steps completely disappear once you close the door and drop down farther than a tube step when the door is open. There is no loss of ground clearance and it's much more helpful than a tube step. Other than the price, I haven't found a downside.

Back before AMP, there were Kodiak Sidewinder Steps. I still have a set of them in the shed that need motors. They were just a 12" long step that swung down when you opened the door. I really liked mine. The problem with them was that they used a window motor to move them and they stuck out from under the truck just enough when they were retracted for a little boy to get his toe on and grab the door and try to pull himself up when Daddy got home...

When they're all the way down I could bounce on them with no issues. Seems like they were @ $350 a set. You might could still find a set.

Built a half step that folds up under the running boards. I used a bumper folding step and made some brackets. At $265.00 each not that much. They are higher than the skid plate for the transfer case.

I like it... What keeps them up while driving?
