I'm looking for some sort of step to get in my truck. The last truck I had nerf bars on were great for getting in but when I stepped out my leg always brushed up against them getting all the mud all over my pants. Running boards (aftermarket from Dodge) are just too expensive.

Ideas?

Did the same thing to my pants with the step bars on my '99. I'm going to use the same step bars (black Westins) on my '03 as soon as they're available - about two weeks. Decided I'll just have to start steeping on the bar wheh Iget out of the truck to save the pants. I'm getting the bars from the Rhino

liner shop in Fort Collins - great people to deal with.

Shoot, I did it every time I stepped out!

How much are they from that shop?

I got maap challengers, mine being the polished SS. These kinda look like a cross between a running board and a nerf bar as they are a flattened out oval 5" wide. I wanted a little extra protection from rocks after hearing all the paint chip stories.

I got chrome plated stainless nerf bars from my local hitch shop. They are for the 1500 series but the shop with minor mods was able to rework the front mount and make them work. The cost was almost exactly 1/2 the price of the Dodge bars and no doubt are better quality.

Check the electric Kodiak Step kit in Geno's Garage. Pricey, but no more so than chrome step bars.

Put some GoRhino! Sumatra 6000's on the other day. They're nice. Black, full length from wheel to wheel. Only took a few minutes per side and I'm very impressed so far. If you live in a road salty area, might want to go for the stainless. Got them from

http://www.truckperformance.com

Hope this helps.

I installed DeeZee FX style on mine. Had them on my 01 and liked so went with them again. Usually not a fan of Deezee stuff (some of it seems looks kind of cheap) but these look good in my opinion and price is good. I have front only and I think was $280? I got the polished diamond plate aluminum version. I think they do make a stainless version also.

Do these bolt right on using existing holes?
