All,

I have the stock (or factory installed) side steps on my 2010 and I assume they are exactly the same on the MY11/12. I am really unhappy with them, as it seems you can only get your toes on them in regular shoes.

I think they either need to come out farther or down a little so you can get your whole foot on them. I know this is nit-picky but it drive me nuts.

Does anybody else share this frustration and/or is anyone aware of a "fix" for this before I engineer one?

Craig

The fix is take them off and replace with side bars. I ordered side bars for mine, but they didn't come in before I headed south, so I have the factory OEM for a few months, but then they are history.

Take a look at some 4 inch wide Platinum Series Oval Step Bars, Polished Stainless Steel. I got them because they are wide and stick out enough so that you can get your foot on them. I like them a lot. .

The other option is extend the brackets on your existing steps outward, it would be fairly easy to add an inch or a tad more.

I like the Go Industries Rancher Rugged step. Sort of a cross between a nerf bar and a running board. The no skid tape they send with them is a little cheap looking, so I am getting mine line x coated in a couple weeks. They are supposed to be the highest rated at 400 pounds. Merry Christmas, Bill

That's what I was thinking

I have some heavey steel I'm going to experiment with. I'll document and post my project.
