Well I pulled my pump today to see the damage and sure enough. I seized the plunger in the head. So now the debate begins. I cannot get full core price for this pump because of the damage. I priced parts to repair it an the head alone was $1100. :-{} So I politely told them that that was not an option. So now a search for a "spare" (Yea, Right) begins. Or the 14mm head may be an option.

Any pointers welcome.

I heard of something similar happening to a truck when at the local diesel shop. If I remember correctly they got a new pump from Scheids because of the core/$$$ issue. The local pump shop would not give them full core price either, and Scheids either didn't require a core or was just cheaper over all.

I'd try to find a new one, personally. Might contact the big name vendors, and give mysteryman a PM. Someone somewhere should have one available.

If you could pick up a good used one off of ebay or an ad somewhere you could get a H&R outta one of them. But you take a chance as to wether or not that one is good also. If you buy a brand new pump you don't need to turn in a core and thats usually the best way to go in your situation. A completely brand new pump costs only a slight amount more than a H&R in most cases.
