What are the signs that I might have a fuel filter restriction? When started, hot or cold, I get a flutter in the firing order as I take off, I also get a shudder in the 1200 ish range with the lock up engaged. Also when coming to a stop after a high speed highway run, when I stop at the top of the exit ramp the idle sounds like 1 or so cylinders are not firing to full power, not enough to shake the truck, but definatly not the steady chant the cummins has at idle. If I sit there for a min or two it will smooth out. I am wondering if the fuel filter is restricted and she cant get enough fuel thru the filter to keep up. I have no problems if I get into the throttle, even all the way to gov limit. Thanks Mike

#1- change the fuel filter every 8-10K mi or so. 10K is about the LONGEST I can go in my first gen. NOrmal signs of fuel filter needing changed are MPGs going through the floor, poor acceleration, low EGTs and boost.

#2- If you can get into it and it runs, I'd say you are getting fuel. I'd think if you had fuel delivery issues, you would have the sputtering/ choking with more throttle. Could be a governor issue, though I'll admit I'm not up to speed on the P7100.
