Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Silencer ring fell off...Literally

Shutdown my truck with the hood open last night and heard a strang high pitched clanking sound coming from the turbo. Got my screwdriver out and found the silencer ring and retainer clip sitting in the intake hose The retainer ring is out of shape and needs to be replaced. Anyone know the best place for one? This explains why my turbo is so damn loud. I am getting old and want my truck as quiet as possible.

I just installed a new turbo a couple of weeks ago at a wrench day. On the way home the silencer ring and retainer clip came out, turbo seemed much louder. Found both inside the intake hose as well. I too, like the truck as quiet as possible, well kinda, lol.

Yuk Yuk Yuk... ... ... ... . I have read posts describing how hard it is to get the retainer out so the silencer ring can go MIA and now they are falling or blowing out :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

Torque This already took care of me. Appreciate all the generosity on this Board. I have sent a couple things out and this is the first time I have been on the other end. Looks like the old saying is true "What comes around goes around" Only this is in a good way.
