Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Silencer Ring Issue

A go rilla wearing unwear. When I saw the price tag for a silencer ring I nearly passed out. One hundred smackers for that thing :--).

One day, A buddy and I were outside at lunch from work and both our rings fell off and took off across the parking lot. This is a guarded parking lot at the plant with a FULL guard shack We yelled for the guards to stop them, after a small chase zigging and zagging through the parked vehicles, the rings got away and never were seen again!!! Unbelievable, where ARE they going??? After about a year, I gave up the search and bought a turbo without one... ... . I couldn't go through that again :{

What is this silencer ring thing... .



I never had one... .

I looked to see if my truck had a silencer ring but after close inspection I cannot find one anywhere on my truck. Is it possible that Cummins left it out by mistake? Will this void my warranty? Do I need to go to bigger tires? ... and what about that lift pump thingy? I'm so confused

P. S. My truck didn't come with a muffler either. No wonder I got such a good deal on this truck. I guess mine is one of the "stripped down" models.
