Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) silencer ring

is there any advantage to removing the silencer ring, outside of the sound ? ie: better fuel economy, more hp.



what does it look like & where is it on a 01 2500 auto

there is no power advantage at all, the sound is all it will change. if you remove your air tube going from your air box to your turbo, you sould see a snap ring as you look inside your turbo. pop that out and the silencer ring should come with it. it just kinda looks like a giant washer.

You just pop off the snap ring and the silencer ring will come right out. You can see the snap ring gap,about the 6-7 O-clock postion on the turbo,the silencer ring is the larger shaped smooth ring.

You can really hear the turbo with it out. . Took mine out a few minutes after snapping this pic... I love the way it sounds.
