Didnt have a tool to removed the snap ring so I grabbed a pair of Vise Grips and pulled the metal piece out and left the snap ring. Did I screw anything up. Started the truck up and it sounded awesome. Please let me know ASAP taking a trip to Pa. tomorrow and dont want to ruin anything. Please email me.
New email no. is seajay@ec. rr.com

Thanks.

I think as long as you didn't damage any of the turbo blades you're OK. I used two screwdrivers to remove the ring in mine. I've since put it back in for my wife's sanity. It sounds awesome with the K&N RE-0880 filter.

While we're talking silencer rings. Is there any benefit to power by removing the ring or is it done just to sound cool? Do you guys put it back in when you go to the dealer for service?

Jim,

The ring's only function is to reduce turbo noise. It was installed at the request of DC. Cummins engines destined for other applications don't have the silencer ring. Those of us who have taken them out aren't likely to put them back in. #ad

Since removing the ring has no performance consequences, the dealers couldn't care less about whether or not it has been taken out.
