Drove a lot of miles last week and kept seeing Semi trucks with a piece of PVC pipe less than 1" OD on the rear view mirror pointing up and down. I didn't see anything sticking out of the pipe but saw enough of them to think they serve a purpose.

silly question, but anybody know? My only guess was that it did something for the turbulence on the mirror... ???

thanks!

J

Don't know about your pipe, but I did see a cupholder on the side view mirror of a big rig the other day, had a soda can in it. I bet it kept his soda nice and cold!

The pvc pipe you see is a holder for their 18" dish so they can watch TV when stopped or resting. Apparently, the industry is slow to make a nice aftermarket bracket.

Alot of guys put a pole in that PVC that extends up to 13' 6". This is so they can check clearance of questionable or unmarked obstacles that the truck needs to pass under. Obviously they do this very slowly.
