Jim don't forget to post on the towing test drive, I am about to buy a Silver 64 for my '03, you can check truck profile as to upgrades, they told me for where I'm at this would be better than a full Silver Bullet, I tow about 8-9000 lb trailer when I work, unfortuantely construction has slowed quite a bit, and not towing everday right now. I also have future plans for the truck as well, I WANT MORE, :-laf, thanks again.

I have the 64 and with my fueling I have no lag. I wished I'd gotten the bullet now that I know... Heck I wish there was something even bigger... :-laf

See right now I tow about 8,000 lbs, I'm worried it might be to much turbo for the weight, I dont need any surge from the turbo being to large.

I just returned from a road trip of some 2500 miles, although I did not tow I did get to see how the turbo acts at altitudes from 1200 to 11000 ft... ... it will not surge.

At the beginning I was a little disappointed with the truck as I had some dirty injectors but cured that issue at I. I. when I was in Salt Lake for a few days, changed over to a 2 micron filter!

Much better coming home with clean injectors and raised pop pressures, this goes hand and hand what Brady was saying that the Bullet liking atomized fuel.

Mileage ranged from 18. 5 to 21. 2 on the trip, the best being with clean injectors and sightseeing in the mountains.

Jim

I did have one break down though!

Seems the flexable portion of the transmission line under the manifold finally gave way, not too bad considering it's the original.

Thank goodness I was in a small town and was following Brady to the Lake, took about an hour and half to get a new one built + a spare and add the 4 quarts of transmission fluid it lost.

Other than that the truck did very well!

Jim

Sightseeing, MPG? Who are you, and what have you done with Jim?

RonA

That's a good one Ron! I just finished my flying tour and had 30 days leave! Brady had been after me for a few years to come up and go to Lake Powell so the Power Challenge was going on then too... . what a better time... . road trip!

I went up to Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, Moab then to Salt Lake, from there to Lake Powell for a few days with his family... ... ... coolest outing ever, then back to Durango for the Steam Train ride then on to Red River NM and back home.

I will tell you and everyone, if I lived at 8000 ft or above I'd have a HY-9/K-31set of Twins or a stick, my truck has nothing below 1500 unless you like smoke.

Jim

Had a chance to tow with mine. It did not surge at all, but I was disappointed when I tried to run the truck At Firebird in Boise at the NHRDA event. The turbo was hard to spool up and ran a full second slower than it did with the stock turbo. I think I need to increase the amount of fuel.

Oh I have some of those pics too, the max grade on that track is 4% and she lugs hard on it, down to say 6-7 MPH! I don't know the distance off hand but they filled up 3 times with water going up to Silverton, 2 times coming back.

The Bullet likes fuel, if it's slower then it needs some juice! I may run something smaller on my build truck though, it's a 4x4 with 4:10's and 35" tires!

Jim

Jim, I swear we almost crossed paths up there... wife and I were in Creede for three weeks, and we day-tripped to Silverton once, and then day-dripped to Farmington (don't ask) another.

sps62 w/ the stock head was pretty sluggish and EGT's would climb pretty easy... if I kept it wound up to 2200 or more, it'd hold 1000-1100 going over Wolf Creek.

if I ever move out that way, whatever truck I've got will DEFINATELY have twins on it

I really didn't think it was that bad for a Big Turbo but keep in mind that my 370's were spraying pretty bad, once I got the 2 micron filter on and the injectors cleaned up it was much better. The worst I got to see was 1100... . (1050 after the injector cleaning) degrees accelerating up a pass, after that they stayed there and boost took over.

Got to ride quite a few times in Brady's truck and there is definately a difference in the way the two trucks act.

I have not really seen it asked yet but how good is the SB 66 on a 12 valve manual? Does it lay down fast on shifts and longer to build boost? I am looking for a large single or going with twins again on my 12 valve manual. What would be a good bottom s400 wheel size to go with if I put a silver 62 on top? I know that there are a lot of combinations of wheels for them. Would there be a big difference in lag in between the 40 and a SB 66?

Get the 74/75mm inducer version on the S400.
