Garbage!!! They suck raw eggs! Sylvania has a big loser on their hands with these bulbs. They look just about the same as regular halogen and last 2 to 4 months. Then, their replacement policy is that you return the bulb to them and then HOPE to get a replacement. There's a gentleman on "another board" who's been waiting over 8 weeks to get his replacement!!!

i,ve had my silverstars for over ayear now and love them. big difference from stock i replaced the headlight bulbs first turned them on and then the foglights had to get rid of the fog light bulbs so i replaced them with silverstars they looked really yellow and dirty compared to silverstars you will not be disappointed with them and if you shop walmart you will get a pair of them for $34 :)
 
I put Silverstars in the headlamps and fogs on my truck and love them! They're bright and white and a helluva improvement over stock halogen. As for replacements, I put a set in my 2002 Impala, traded that for an '05 and took the Silverstars out and put them in the new car! They still haven't burned out!
 
Will the stock wiring support some of those 80w/100w bulbs? I'd like to upgrade to a set of the 80/100 Hellas, or maybe those Hoen 80/100's, but really don't want to mess with trying to upgrade wiring or anything on this machine, or any mods that might set the lamp out warning off (i. e. feeding the bigger lamps with a relay, etc).
 
I just googled for Silverstars and burned and out. Most of the complaints are for H1 bulbs. My experience with them was with my BMW 740iL which used the H1 bulbs. Apparently the H1 format are more fragile even in OEM form and the the H1 Silverstars had a lot of trouble. I had one bulb last 2 months and the other 4 months. Yes -- I handled them correctly by not touching the glass, etc... . This explanation makes sense of the fact that you all are having such good luck with these lasting... .

I just ordered a set of the Hoen's as I didn't want to go the Silverstar route after my experience with the 7. In the 7, the 100w bulbs were not a problem for the wiring. I don't know what the case will be with the truck but I'll let you know what happens! :)

Silverstars

I used to run Silverstars until I had to replace too many. I researched new bulbs a while back and found many articles about how bad tinted bulbs, including Silverstars, are for glare on the road and to other drivers. The blue light is the only light in the spectrum that really is projected. It causes the road to be tinted blue. That reduces the contrast and increases fatigue.

"A 2003 study funded by Sylvania suggests blue-tinted bulbs can improve side vision for drivers at night, but it also noted that the benefit is relatively small.

There's also a down side. The filaments, those tiny wires inside the bulbs, are tweaked so the tinted lights can produce enough white light, and this causes them to burn out significantly faster than standard halogen bulbs.

Lighting manufacturers including Sylvania make replacement halogen bulbs that do help drivers see better at night, he said. The lights are clear and are usually labeled as high-performance or high-efficacy bulbs. "



I currently have The Silvania Xtravisions. I am very happy with them. They are clear bulbs. I have had them 4 months with large majority on wash board roads and not had a problem yet.

I have been using a set in my old Saab and they are almost 18 months old. The difference may be is that they are on whenever the engine is running and I remember hearing that the filaments were more resilient when hot.
 
I put a set in my wifes durango back in the spring, have had no problems. Just recently put a set in my dually, no probs yet. BIG improvement!
 
Going to modify my headlights to the real HID's with the projector lens, screw that whole dodge headlight system
