Replacement Center Bearing (Driveshaft)?

I have two fairly straight forward questions... The first relates to a squeak I'm hearing from the driver's side dash area. I only hear it when I'm turning and the suspension is moving. If it's a smooth turn, no squeak. If I'm going over bumps straight, no squeak. I have checked for contact between the dash and pillar, but can't find any. Any suggestions? I know of at least two other people with identical problems.

My second question pertains to dealers. I know that there has been talk discouraging dicussing mod-friendly dealerships. Fair-enough. Where would I look to find info on plain old-fashioned, good dealerships? Clearly this five-star thing doesn't mean *&$%.

Grease,

Had a squeek in my 98 that sounded like it was more in the steering coulumn. Sounds are very difficult to pinpoint their origin. Anyway, just as you described this chirpping sound would come when the wheel was turned 90 degrees either way with the truck moving. Took the column cover off and dash facia, squirting Silicon spray on anything that may be a source as well as tightening screws.

After 4 weeks of that I gave up and took it in to the dealer for a couple other things and the problem ended up being the intermediate steering shaft. This is the shaft with the universal joints at each end between the steering column and power steering gear box. The rubber dampner up near the firewall would squeek and the sound would be transmitted up through the steering column.

Friend of mine last month had the same problem. He mentioned my experience to the service writer, he commented back that their techs know what their doing, 3pm that day they call him and say they replaced his intermediate steering shaft. Imagine that...
