Thanks, TDR Staff

Any pics of external gate install on ATS manifold?

16cm housing for HX40$$?

I have had my 02 for a few months now and have been slowly trying to boost the power, and as we all know, it is addictive, so I have got what I was told was a B1 bomber, how do I tell what the model is?, I am also wondering which injectors are the best route to go with for the 100-120 hp mark? Is there a website to learn more about the B1? I feel dumb for these questions, but I have to start somewhere, thanks in advance.

Info

joaker,

This site is a worth bookmarking. www.dodgeram. info

Click on diesel engines, then in the FAQ section on turbos.

Also www.piersdiesel.com and browse the turbo section.

Or go to any of the advertisers of the TDR and read what info they have on turbos.

Good Luck!

Joaker, put your location in your profile. Maybe someone can point you towards a local shop or guru that can help ID the turbo. Any of the regional groups have members that would rather spend time under the hood sniffin' diesel fumes than pretty much anything else (I said PRETTY MUCH anything else)!! :D

My shop out here in Edmonton is NADP, you probably have heard of them, that is where I got the turbo, and all they told me, was it is a B1 Bomber..... not too much to go by, I will be going there today, so I will try again, also, what would be recommended for injectors, I was told about some Jammer II's?? Sound familiar?

I've talked to KWIKKURT a few times, he knows a bit about those turbos, too. (KWIKKURT is his name on TDR) Maybe a PM or email could get some info rolling your way

UPDATE Check the sig for what we are working with presently, one problem... . need more power, don't we all, so I will be doing injectors, I know it seems like a backwards way to build her up, but it will support big injectors due to a good turbo, and will now put it to the ground, so, what brand of injeectors have you found to be the best, I don't mind smoke, can't have much higher EGT's as they are about as high as I can deal with, and in the future I would like to be able to tow with out negative ramifications, what I have heard so far was to go in the direction of the DD Jammers, probably of the 3 or 4 variety, anybody run either of these, have good luck, mileage change, smoke, any input would be appreciated. Thanks all.

I went with the F1diesel EDM 3's. Posts I reviewed mentioned less smoke for the HP achieved, but the Jammers weren't out then. With my mods and the Comp box, towing is great. You can turn on/off 100+hp so control of EGT is easy dependant on elevation, load, length of grade, etc. Box off is DEFINITELY less power (I dyno'd 340hp with Comp off), but I couldn't get the EGT's over 1200 climbing 6% grade for several miles with 20k lbs GCW.

2001 manual trans 6-speed H. O.

I ran 434hp/975tq last weekend. 46lbs boost, just hit 1500* at end of run, but my graph falls off after 2700rpm... makes me think the drag anti-defueling part of my comp isn't working right. I'll see if I can scan my last two runs this evening for some feedback. I found that removing air filter helps (thanks KLocklier).

the straight comp box will de-fuel, the drag box won't that's the big part of the Drag Box, what style of intake are you utilizing? With out injectors I have hit 40+lbs of boost, don't know the number for sure, my guage only does 35, time to upgrade.....

'style of intake'? I use a BHAF daily, but the last dyno run I ran without a filter. I was told by Mark Kendrick that at 48-50# of boost our trucks want more air than any of the filters can provide. It was suggested to me by KLocklier that I dyno without a filter, so I did. A few minutes won't draw too many bugs, birds or small children into the turbo!

The thing I'm just getting into my skull is that more boost does not mean more HP. There is an optimum point for any given turbo/fuel system where max power will be made - above that point (higher boost) you super-heat the intake charge and lose power because hot air is less dense, and EGTs rise rapidly as the pressure ratio (drive pressure to the turbo versus boost pressure) goes out of the efficiency range. If you can find that point of balance, you can then add fuel and stop boost increase to make more power.

Actually the stage 2 AFE will flow sufficiently for 50+lbs boost, there are a couple guys out here running the stage 2 with no problems, I will check that link, thanks... .
