Would these Engine and transmission cooling packages come standard on a 3500?? Thats why I didn't care that this new 06 didn't have the receiver hitch or the full towing package ( A 275. 00 option). All of my truck before this had the receiver hitch and it was never used once. I pull a gooseneck. I went to the dealer yesturday to inquire about the MOPAR wiring harness, etc and they said that would have to be aftermarket. I guess there are several aftermarket add ons that work well with these new trucks, thanks for the advice everyone!!! I need to stay away from these boards. . LOLOL I am a big worry wart. I am sure the guys will have it done and ready for me! thanks!

The engine/transmission cooling is standard on all diesels. . just not the receiver hitch or wiring.

I don't care how great they think they are at wiring. I would make them use the Mopar factory wiring harness, especially on an 06.

I second that---DC engeneers masterminded a new trailer circuitry nightmare on the 06's. no fuse's no relays.

i thought the tow package also included increased cooling capacity--transmission cooler and a few goodies like that ? if it does and you didn't get the towing package you might want to check into it.

First truck I pick from David smith motors didn't have a hitch, or the tow mirrors :( 2nd truck actually cheaper, with a big horn eddition had the mirrors and the hitch. Even only towing a GN of 5th I can't seen never even having a standard hitch. Picture it you out some where and you need to tow something, Doh no hitch

Both trucks were a 3500, dully 06.

I can see not coming with a receiver, such as if you're only going to pull goosenecks, or you plan on putting a DMI bumper or cushion hitch.

I don't understand why a person would buy a diesel truck... and not use it to pull a trailer. I could see a 1/2 ton truck not coming from the factory with a hitch, but a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel. . what else are you going to use it for?

Because they want one.

I don't tow. prolly 1500 miles total towing of the 74,000 miles. I wanted a diesel, I got a diesel.

And I have the tow package :)

Usually the diesel's automatically got the extra cooling packages as standard equipment whether they got the towing package... at least my 99 did... in a gasser, that is added with the towing package... in the diesel, basically you only get a hitch and wiring harness.

With that said, on the 2nd gens, DC had a recall on the OE hitch... they would add a little brace from the end of the frame to the hitch to keep the frame and hitch from bending and cracking... my 99 had them, but my dad's 99 doesn't (but he doesn't tow, so it isn't really a big deal). If you toe heavy on the OE hitch, might be worth checking on...

Plus it makes a good solid place to pull from if you get a little tight... I don't even know where you would safely attach on one of these newer trucks if they didn't have a hitch or tow hooks...
