Anyone seen any of them for sale anywhere?



You can get a new 5. 5 HP Robin for 1200 (roughly) at northern tool... That's a pile of money for a 5. 5 horse engine



Of course, the Briggs Vanguard 26. 5 HP is ONLY 3500...



I recall when you could buy a whole NEW 6. 2 GM engine for about that... .

Yea but look how much longer the life and how much more trouble free they are compared to GM Actually I would rather have a B&S than anything made by Mr Goodwrench. Yanmar makes good 3600 RPM diesels.

#1615906170 These are 3 single cylinder Deutz engines. No bids yet.



#1615464187 This is a new old stock 2 cylinder 23 HP Deutz that can be bought for $1250. Sounds like a great deal if you can use it!



Groban Supply in Chicago has usually had a good assortment of diesel engines in the past. I do not know what they might have now, but it would be worth a check.

Power Wagon, The Georgia National Fair (I know it's a good drive for you) has a deal every year where several vendors/collectors bring their one cylinder diesels. They sell them and display them. Let me know exactly what you are looking for and I'll check on one for you. The fair is early October. Heck. Just come on down and go with me .

I was more interested in roughly the price they go for, more than buying one at the moment. However, it would provide a good re-power for something my son's looking at (go cart chassis... not the race kind, the street/fun kind). I would think the diesel would be many times more efficient and have better oomph than a tired tecumseh...

The Yanmar is an extremely tough engine, cheap and easy to OH, The robin is a knock off, the deutz are a short life engine and throw aways.

On another note (punn intended) the small diesels are louder than the ISB while running, You will have a hard time yelling over them even if they have a residential muffler ( 58 db ). They are aluminum block, cyl and heads, no inherant internal noise supression that is present in water jacketed engines

Oh really! Wow... maybe I'm not interested after all.



The only small diesels I've actually heard were some China diesel single cylinder machines that ran slow. They were also almost silent at idle. They ran so slow just idling that you could put your hand on the muffler... it was about 110 degrees on a 70 degree day. They idled about 200 rpm, as well.



Come to think of it, those would be great for pumping water...

Trust me on this one: If you see a China Diesel dont walk away, RUN away. I lived in the Arizona outback where Arizona Public Service wanted $250,000 to run power 4 miles (!). We and all our neighbors ran generators insted. EVERY China diesel was dead with 6 months, one guy bought 3 of them and they were all dead and rusting with in one year. He had them fixed more times than I can remember. He ended up with a VM (Italian) that ran forever (24/7); it had a terrible governor but was reliable.

I would never consider them for anything that was... required.



I have seen fuel system parts for both china diesel and russian diesel engines. . . both are so crudely made it amazed me that they worked... at all.



I have no fear of China in a war. If we can stall them for a few weeks, we won't have to fight, everthing will be broke down...

Deutz makes an awesome single cyl, but most likely way to big for the cart.
