Anyone using TSPerformance box yet??

HTT Stage 2 issues

i drive the same way, i love acceleration. i have the DTT 89 convertor and i wish i would have gotten the 91. dont get me wrong the 89 is great but i wish it was tighter. i had a loose convertor with the stock, and in no way would i want to go back to anything close to that. that stock trans with the loose convertor made the truck have to build rpm b4 it would move, it was all show and no go. now with this trans it is some show and all go

Is your dyno number with the setup in your sig?? Without the internal work, Your sig sounds like what I have in mind.

transmission (TC) Big single, big plate, GSK, studs and ringed, 370s or equiv, 10 (100) plate. I've wondered for a long time how it would perform in that trim. My goal is 500hp. I'm sorry I didn't pay attention to your sig sooner because i've seen it numerous times.

yeah it is, i havent touch the inside of the pump yet other than the simple 100 plate. at full throttle i dont have any smoke so i need some more fuel, also to push this phat shaft a little harder.

Do you think it would have been attainable without the cam and pistons though? Thats what I meant about the internal mods.

I'll probably have this setup by the end of next summer if all goes well.

First off their is an easy way to see why the number of discs in the converters clutch make a differance in the torque handling characteristics of the converter. Look at it this way, every single performance transmission builder improves the clutch packs by increasing the number of clutches to increase friction surface area. It is the exact same principle with the clutch pack in our Triple-lok. The more friction surface area the less stress on that surface. A standard converter has about 32 square inches of friction surface area, the triple-lok has 117. If you put the same ammount of force on these two surfaces the froce per square inch on the stock clutch is going to be 3. 5 times that of the Triple-lok.

As for the VB we do not design them specifically for the Triple-lok. They are designed to be able to lockup in all 4 gears, provide stonger shifts and more pressure on the clutch packs. the only parts of the VB that are Dodge is the main body and the gear selector. All of the other parts are either machined or laser cut by us.

What about five clutchs. Is this overkill or a way to make the consumer just think there is a better product. What do you auto transmission experts think. Check out ATS web site they are advretiseing a new five disk converter. this makes me think I should just go back to a shifter.

as far as my knowlodge Jetpilot hasnt slipped either of his single disks yet, so why do you really need 5 except more clutches slipping and putting even more clutch material in the trans. you dont see many manual clutches with more than 2(except for slippers for sledpullin) that is my feeling.

MY DTT hasn't blinked in 80000 miles. It makes me Oo.

On a slightly different note, I find it hilarious that people argue over and over about 1 disc or 3 or (now)5... Failures i've known about first hand in high hp trucks, have been just about everything but the torque converters. Seen flex plates, input shafts, output shafts, 3rd gear clutch, rear clutch, etc fail... virtually all these pieces seem to be weaker then the torque converters. Who has the best solutions for ALL the weak links?

I voted with my wallet and haven't had a regret since.

Chris,

so am I to understand that the torque convertor is not the entire trans?? How could this be?

I was about to call Bill and tell him I wanted a newfangled multi disc TC installed immediately! Just the added benefit of extra clutch material and weight would be worth it to me! :-laf

I am in agreement with many of the others here. Run whatever floats your boat. I chose my trans based on the system, not the convertor. Cause, if everything else falls apart, it really does not matter if your TC holds up.

BTW, there is a difference when you are talking about adding disks in the trans and adding them to the TC. They have a different function and operate under different perameters.

The trans guys do know this. And a multi disc TC in my eyes is a clever marketing trick. Nothing more. We had run cars with multi disc TCs over the years. This is only because the single disc would hook up too hard. With more discs, we were able to build in some controlled slip.
