I saw the post by Wingate on the "Cummins Cat Dual Fuel Filter Kit." Good info in there, but I'm unsure if I want to pull the trigger on that unit or another unit.

Are there other manufactures out there that make a single or dual fuel filter for my '05 that is relatively simple to install?

Thanks

This is Glacier's single on their cylinder head mount on my '07.

They also have mounts for under the intake horn. Extremly easy to install.

I just called Richard at GDP. Nice guy and very helpful. I may end up getting the cylinder head mount version.

Thanks for the replies.

Rich at GDP offers ONLY top notch products and customer service. The CHMB 2 mic kit is one of the three filters I have on my truck. You will NOT be dissapointed.

Why would you hesitate on one of these kits? They are both great kits and very easy to install on trucks they were designed for. We have used there single kit on all of our work trucks for a couple years now and they work great. We recently just upgraded them all to the new dual filter kit and sold the singles ones to employees and their friends that have Cummins to recoup some costs. One thing about there kit is they use all good quality parts and the filters are easily found in even a smaller town for replacement. Good luck on your decision, but I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Here's something else to consider- the GDP kits come with all the parts you will need- you won't be chasing around for miscellaneous items.

@AO - Maybe you didn't read Wingate's post about his install. Whether or not his difficulties were his fault or the manufacturer of the filter kit is irrelevant, I still was curious as to other manufacturers of fuel filter kits.

Based on numerous comments above on the GDP fuel filter, my conversation with Rich at GDP, ease of install and the fact that it's installed under the hood sold me on the GDP fuel filter. It's the buyer's responsibility to do his due diligence when purchasing something...I did mine...and chose GDP!

Nice right up guys, I've been doing this research myself for a while. I was going to make my own "Cat dual filter" for much cheaper than they charge. But now you guys have sold me on the Glacier brand. I appreciate the under the hood filter. Makes much more sence. The one from Glacier that you have on your picture is the one that is intended for trucks with the APPS. And their below the intake kit, if what they intend for the common rails... I think. Does anyone know where the "under the intake" version mounts? I may try to make one myself. If you go to their website it looks like the "under intake" version is mounted to the intake? Is that true?

Richard at Glacier used my truck (and others) to design my particular application, with an eng. mounted APPS. Let me tell you he is all about the details and wasn't satisfied until everything was perfect.

PD, How much does the engine mounted filter shake with the engine vibrations? It's hanging a long way out there. I'm curious since my truck also has the engine mounted APPS.

Bill

Bill, not to worry, the mount is very rigid so the filter doesn't move around or vibrate at all. In fact I've caught myself leaning on it when working on the eng so it's quite strong.

Scott

I agree, I don't see any exaggeration of the vibration using that mount as compared to anything else conected to the engine on mine. Overall, I'm just very happy with the unit.
