How wide of a spacer do I need to put dually wheels on the 2500 axle? I have the front spacers and the set of wheels and a dually bed just don't know how wide the spacers need to be for the wheels on the back. Thanks, JNapier

The dually axle is a totally different animal. A dually axle does not use spacers like the front axle. I've been told that a dually axle is actually a little narrower than a SRW axle. I just picked one up on eBay for $122. 50. It was in a front end collision and the driveshaft got pushed back into the axle and there is some slop in the pinion. I took it to a good mechanic in the area that said some new bearings and a new crush sleeve should fix it if there is no internal damage. For the price, I couldn't resist. Good dually axles on eBay go for $1000+.

I've converted my 2500 to a dually. I actually swapped the axle and yes it is different in width. The axle itself is actually narrower, but the dually hubs are bigger, thus making the overall length (width) longer than a single wheeled axle. I think the overall difference, measuring from outer hub surface to outer hub surface is about 3 inches, so 1 1/2 inch spacer on each side would make the dimension the same. I could have gone this route, but I did not personally feel comfortable loading/towing on a single wheeled axle that way. I would recommend the axle swap to a dually axle. All the mounting points (driveline, spring mount, shocks, brakes, etc. ) are identical. Good luck, Trey

I had installed a dully kit on my 89 from Arrowcraft. The kit had axel spacers for the front and rear and worked very well. It was cheaper than replacing the whole rear end. Ok, it did not increase the load rateing of the truck but it made a world of a diffrence towing... . JC whitney also offers spacers... ... .
