I need some advise on single turbos for towing. My truck is listed in my signature. I am towing a 12,000 fiver now and I will be getting a heavier one in the future. When I run empty I can keep the TST on 5/5 and the EGT is not a problem. I have the temp set at 1350 on the TST and I get to just below it. When I am pulling the camper I have to be careful at 3/3 on the TST as it will get to the EGT set point. Is there a bolt on turbo that would be worthwhile? I would like to be able to run 6/6 without a load and 4/4 with the camper without the lag being slower than stock. I would like this to be a direct fit, or all the necessary parts included with the turbo.

Maybe a Killer B2? - After the install of my Sledpuller, I am sure anyone could do it... R&R, remove and replace :)

I second the recommendation of either the b1 or the killer B. Both are good turbos. I have personally had the killer B and liked it.

I have the KSB1-B and run comp on 1x5 (pump wire not tapped) and under WOT I get 35 # and 900* towing a 13k 5er. Really good air flow. As the boost goes up you can see the max EGT start dropping while still WOT.

There is NO way the wife can over temp when driving and towing was one of the objectives. She "sometimes" watches the EGT. Now it does not matter if she does or if she does not.

Way more air than I need on 1x5, so probably close to the air needed on 3x5 or so.

The only problem I have with the KSB1-B is when the transmission shifts into 3rd at 40 mph while towing. The turbine end tends to stall and "chug" (ie more psi in the intake than across the turbine) when the shift drops the engine rpm to a lower rpm and you are at WOT.

I second the KSB1B. You can see my mods and checking the highest temp history on my egt guage it reads 1395deg. My wire is tapped and I get 42 pounds of boost. I have towed very heavy and loved the performance of this turbo. I'm sure the other's listed are good turbo's also but I have no direct experience with them.
