Sirius is FAR better than XM in my opinion. I am in the process of canceling my XM and getting Sirius. My wife got Sirius when she got her TDI and it is GREAT!

Those kits are really nice and work well. The only problem I have is I travel roads that are heavily wooded and signal is always in / out.

The home kit is great if you have a portable boom box for the receiver. The one problem I have is that there are 3 family houses on either side of me which plays with the signal a bit.

I got my Sirius from Radio Shack. I got it about a year ago and haven't had any problems. It was $199 with a $100 mail-in rebate. I also paid the $500 for life option. I do not have the Starmate tho, I've got the Orbiter.

I have the Starmate in my CTD, and I will be installing the Home Kit this weekend (if we don't get the hurricane). I really like Sirius. Only had it for a few weeks, but my best friend and her husband have had it for a couple of years, with no problems.

I have the Sirius Sportster in my CTD,and my work van. It is basically the same as the starmat but a bit bigger I think. I plan on getting the boombox at some point. The only issues I have had with mine just came up about a week ago. What was happening was when I hit a bump in the van the receiver would lose the connection for the antenna on the roof, and then would come back when I hit another bump. I thought it was maybe the cradle in my van form all the shaking it takes, but it is doing the same thing in my CTD. I think it is maybe a bad connection on the unit itself,as I have wedged some paper inbetween the unit, and the cradle to keep some pressure on it,and it works fine now. I got the unit as a gift last christmas so I don't have a recipt,so I called Sirius and they are sending me out a new unit in 4-6 weeks.

I love my Sirius, and go crazy if I am in a vehicle without it especially now that Stern has started putting stuff on his channels. I have a friend that has XM,and swears by it,and always put Sirius down, and has reports for me of how Sirius lies about its customer base, and such, but I think he is just jelouse that I made a better selection in my Sattelite company.

i have a sirius mobile kit, its great, the only problem is as previously stated, trees will knock out the signal, powerlines will play with it, and if your near a city, its hard to find a "dead" station that you can feed your normal radio with for very long... i keep some cds in the truck and if i can't find a good "dead" station i'll switch to a cd for awhile... it gets annoyin, but while it works its great

I have done alot of reading on Sirius and XM and I definately have decided to go with Sirius. The main reason for Sirius over XM is that Sirius carries the NFL and has a station devoted to the NFL 24hrs a day. From the reading I have done I think I will go with either the Starmate or the Starmate Replay. I will buy mine through BestBuy as I have some BestBuy bucks from the McDonalds monopoly game. If any of you have BestBuy bucks that you dont plan on using, I will pay the shipping for you if you send them to me :) The more I can get, the better the radio I can get :-laf

I have had the starmate since June, I like it alot. I paid 100 for it than got a 50 dollar mail in rebate. I also got the 500 life time deal. It moves from car to car vary easy. I never mounted the antenna,I just put it on the dash and the radio works fine.

I was wondering if the "antenna on dash" would work. GREAT news ... thanks.

A buddy & I traveled with his XM rig & we "tossed" the antenna out the back window onto the camping stuff. Worked just fine too.
