I have the Sirius radio in my 07 3500. I tow R. V. s and I really enjoy the commercial free stations. We are taking our 11 1/2' Artic Fox slide-in camping over Memorial weekend and it dawned on me I won't have any reception. Anybody have a solution that they have tried? I talked to an installer and he said he could run another antenna on the front of the truck for about $150.

Thanks,

ELEHAN

Not familiar with the Sirius equipment, but I found lots of new XM antennas on ebay. Might be able to just buy one on there and glue a magnetic strip on that way you could remove it when you arent using your slide-in. Running the wires really shouldn't be that hard. Take into account I don't know anything about the Sirius stuff, just XM, but there can't be too much difference.

Radio Shack sells Sirius radios and antenna's #12-2093 magnetic mount, place on front hood of truck run the wire up to the radio, move it easily to any vechicle you want.

While I have not looked myself, My manual indicates there is 2 antenna inputs on the box that is for the Sirius receiver. This box I think is above the glove box or inside the RS kick panel (even though my 06 manual says its behind the rear seat!). Pictures show 2 antenna inputs. Before I sold my slidin camper, I was going to use an extra antenna I have and out it out on the RF fender/hood area.

Not sure if the connector is different, but others have already crossed this bridge :)

I have the magnetic mount that I can extend to the front of the hood when the camper is on the truck. .

I found the sat antenna black box up over the glove box.

Looks to be the standard xm or sirius (same antennas)small coax push on plug that will take a magnet antenna temporary stuck to front of hood for camping.

I bought two 50 ft. extension cables and another antenna on the internet. My plan is to attach one cable to the Sirius receiver and the other to the existing antenna cable, and route them both to the back bumper of the truck. When they are attached together I will have reception from the existing antenna on the cab. When the camper is on, I will mount a second antenna on top of the camper and attach it to the cable going to the receiver. I'm concerned that an antenna on the hood or fender will still be blocked by the camper in some orientations. Anyone have any experience with this. I have the cables but haven't started the work yet. Also, is it necessary to disassemble the whole dash to get to the receiver? Ay suggestions appreciated.

On my 06 3500 dually mega cab it isn't behind above the glove box or behind the right kick panel. The AM antenna comes in there and runs over towards the radio. Do yoiu know where else the Sirius box could be. It's not under the seats. I've heard it might be behind the rear passenger seat.

If you don't have a lot of overhang with your cabover, you might be able to run an accessory antenna up to the dash just below the windshield.
My sirius radio was located just above the glove compartmetn, but the splice connection I made was at a junction just under the right passenger kick panel.
I made the new connection there and just ran the thin wire under the rubber trim to the dash.
good luck,
tom

Hello to All

What I did was mount the antenna in the middle of the hood people ask me what it is and I tell them its my wind sheer antenna.

it works great and I have never been blocked by the camper also you can't see it from the drivers seat.

here are two pictures

Thanks. It turned out it is above the glove box. I didn't recognize it at first because of the metal plate and the connector, which looks so different from the connector on the antenna I bought. And I couldn't get the connector off without breaking the little clamp that holds it on. But the extension worked and the antenna is now mounted on the hood, so I should be able to get reception with the camper on.
