I have the RB4 NAV radio in my rig and really wanted the SIRIUS satillite radio, so I had it installed a couple of days ago. Although minor in the grand scheme of life, the first thing I noticed is that the radio doesn't display the name of the artist and the title of the song in the satillite mode. What I find odd is that the radio will display those things on a FM station that is capable of transmitting that type of data. One would think that it would do the same with satillite radio. I looked in my radio manual and it doesn't say either way.
Is anyone in the same boat I'm in or is there a problem with my radio?
Thanks,
Jack

I dunno, but I am thinking that John Kerry is to blame for the problem you are experiencing. I believe he cut the satelite radio song title and artist program funding by 7 billion dollars to help pay for his socialized medicine program.

Have any of you been listening the the Sirius ads for the "vote for change" campaign? Sure doesn't sound very impartial to me.

Do you have to change out the entire head unit to be able to connect to the satilite radio frequencies or is there some sort of module that is installed and hooked directly to your existing head unit? I have a 2003 and there is a button that seems to control listings of differnt types of music????

Vortex. . you can put it on your head unit also, just station number & name would display. The RB1 and RB4 as I understand should show artist and song title also. I wanted it all to show so I went with a PnP unit that I move from the truck to work, boat, TT and home.

Matt400,
My problem is that my RB4 head unit does not display the artist or title when in the satellite mode. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Jack

Lawdog I also have the RAZ head unit. What are the steps on hooking up to sirius satilite radio? Do you have to change the stock head unit? Does the sirius just plug in? How much did it set you back$$$. Thanks

Jack,

I had thought that it would but maybe not. There is a ton of info on the RB1, RB3 and RB4 listed here

I went to the Dodge Dealer and bought the factory Reciver Kit and instalation kit. 1 runs $175 and the other $125 retail. I was fortunate to save $200 off retail. Very staright forward install. Pull out rear 3rd brake light out and there is a template to mark hole location on roof. Pull down interior trim and drop headliner. I found it easier to also drop the B-pillar trim as well, even though the insytructions dont say to do so. It gives you more clearance to avoid possible drilling too far and going thru the headliner. Drill 3/4" hole (I think) I used a Uni-bit for perfect hole. Put in antenna, run wires across and down drivers side above headliner, down A-pillar and ito dash. There is a module that mounts beneath dash to bracket (big Aluminum one). Another plug in harness plugs into receiver (Sirius) and then just plugs into the rear of the factory radio. Very simple, couple hour job being careful.

Don' forget the PnP's at 99 bucks with all the features its a pretty good deal. Wireless units work real well and if you want it hardwired that can be done if your OE radio has the "mode" button and you don't use a 6 disc changer.

Good info here

Thanks all. Check this out... I had to take my truck in yesterday to get the door sills replaced so I asked the techs to check into why its not being displayed. Not one tech knew what to do. My thought on that is that DC is putting all these "toys" in their vehicles and not training the techs on how to troubleshoot them. Puts the consumer in a bad spot. I think you are right Matt... that the RB4 does not display the title or artist... oh well.

Yup, there it is plain as day... I gotta say, THAT is a bunch of CRAP! I'm suprised that I got a truck with a steering wheel, and wasn't charged EXTRA for the "optional driver vehicle control device". .
