Toyo Open Country MT - do they wear out fast???

Most buyers of late model Dodge trucks received a year of free Sirius Satellite radio free with purchase. After the first year I renewed for a year plus 3 months on a special deal offered. That service has now ended and I am not interested in renewing the service again. We use our truck mainly for hauling a fifth wheel trailer and we are not going anywhere this summer. I have notified Sirius in multipe ways that I am not interested in renewing but continue to receive phone calls. Today I received an collection lettter in the amount of $30. 52 , past due balance for there service. I cannot be past due for anything because all service was prepaid. Is anyone else out the being harrassed by this company?

If you check on the internet there are hundreds of horror stories about them and how they treat customers. I make them put everything in writting and never pay them with a credit card. Every one of the phone representatives I've talked to has been a space cadet. When you talk to a supervisor you can understand why the phone reps act the way they do---I can't understand why they are still in business:-{}

Good luck

I have had my sirius for 6yrs and I love it, don't now what I would do without it.

Me 2, No bad reception unless I am in a tunnel. I'll often sit in my garage to listen to a end of a song I like and it still comes in.

Only thing I dont like its that they just automatically rebill when your time subscription is up. I would be more comfortable with them calling or sending an e-mail like a week before it ended and asked what you wanted to do. But that is my only gripe.

That and an update took out my last radio, but they hooked me up on a new one so I can't complain to much.

Never had any problem except for pestering phone calls at the end of my first year. Bought a lifetime membership cause I plan on keeping this truck for a long time and I figured it would pay for itself eventually especially since their prices are bound to increase in the near future. I really enjoy the service and no commerical listening. Easier than switching out CD's etc. Guess I am lazy in that respect... but I hate commercials! Listen to local news and some AM talk radio other times but 99% of the time I am listening to the sat radio which is really nice on long trips. :)

Sounds like most of you are satisfied with reception but DBentley and I are both in southern MA (Bridgewater and South Carver respectively) and yes reception stinks. I drive 40 miles up/down the South Shore coast each day and depending on what PART of the month (think astronomy not hormones!!) reception will deteriorate in distinct parts of the DAY - sometimes morning or sometimes evening - never both. I suspect its satellite positioning but I can't get either an admission or straight answer from Sirius.

It would die out on rt 6 on the way to the cape with out a tree in sight some days?
It faded in and out on my work van and the dodge with fact sirius setup and 2 of my friends that had xm.
It was so poor that my wife and kid didnt want it on when they were in the truck cause it would be so intermittent off and on.
At the house it was great with an outdoor antenna pointed in the correct direction.

I would have never bought it. It was part of the Big Horn package... ... I paid for the life package(3 radio/vehicle changes???) at end of 1 year, and 95 % of the time on the same station. I had an anomole once, and the service rep was A+ on helping me fix it.

I like Sirius satellite radio for all the reasons others have stated but I hate the company and their scumbag telemarketing employees with a passion.

Sirius is a corrupt, greedy company that knowingly and deliberately uses dishonest, unethical lying scumbags to sell their services. Sirius offers the absolute poorest customer service I have ever experienced. They will lie to you, cheat you, and I assume, harass you to get your money.

I cancelled my service after being lied to by one of their telemarketers but my wife signed my truck up on her service and it is billed to her credit card each month. If it was up to me I would grow flowers in my Sirius radio before I would pay for the subscription.

Would anyone like to know how I really feel about Sirius?

Would anyone like to know how you really feel about anything? :{ Like we have to ask? You're always the first one to tell us...;)

Either way, I have Sirius. I bought a standalone head unit for swapping between office, truck, car, whatever. I pay per year. I had one problem with the unit- the antenna went bad. It was a common problem with my unit. I called and they replaced it under warranty. I've never had a telemarketer call. I've never had a phone call from them period. The only thing I have gotten is an email and letter letting me know my subscription was going to expire. If they raise the prices (like the rumor going around the internet indicates) I don't think I'll have it much longer. It's a blessing for long trips, camping in the middle of Nevada, listening to music without commercials, etc. However, I find myself listening to AM radio more and more as I age, and I don't know if Sirius is worth it anymore. Two cents.

When Sirius first came out, I wanted it, real bad. Got a unit for Xmas from my dad a year before I bought my truck. Loved it; was on a monthly payment automatically from my account. So I buy my truck, its even better! No more looking for a station (FM modulated) and no more static. Life was good. Then they merged, and the one channel I listened to (Buzzsaw!!) was replaced with some BS XM equivalent (The Boneyard-BARF! BTW, we need more smilies on this site... ).

So that ticked me off, as it was rarely, if ever, off of Buzzsaw. Never found a decent replacement (Hair Nation isnt even close to being up to par with what Buzzsaw was. ) And on my truck, it was like $147 in December. Then this spring they decided to try to get some monthly charges out of me.

Needless to say, my Sirius in my truck no longer works, and unless they get some quality stations, Im not renewing. I have an iPod, and the local rock station is pretty good. Road trips I can jam the iPod all I want. After the merger, I wasnt too impressed with what they had to offer. My dad has my older standalone unit; he seems to like it.

My experience was similar but in the reverse. I had an XM Roady II add-on box in my '01 then a built in Sirius in my '06. I was very pleased when XM was gobbled up by Sirius and I could listen to my favorite XM channel on Sirius. But my pleasure was short-lived. New management and reprogramming of their daily selections eliminated my favorite artists and now I have considerably less enthusisam or appreciation for satellite radio. My wife bought an IPOD and loaded with thousands of recordings.

Some XM programming was more popular with old guys like me and similarly, Sirius was more favored among younger listeners.

Sirius ownership and programming choices have disappointed both camps, apparently in equal numbers.

The loss of favored programming by both older and younger listeners and the occasional experience of dealing with the lying, conniving Sirius telemarketers has not made them enhanced their popularity.

Lifetime sub from the start and have past the break even point awhile ago. Some of the best money I've ever spent. Other than a occassional email I have never heard from Sirius. With plans to keep my truck for at least another 10 years I'm a happy sat listener.

I had XM for years before the merger. After the merger, I couldn't take what they'd done to the service.

Some folks like Sirius and their line up, some folks like(d) XM and their line up. I guess it just depends on what you were used to.

I remember the days when XM was just music with an quarter-hour channel ID. Now they have DJ's that don't STFU. That's why I cancelled.
