I really miss my '05, because I had the factory Sirius setup. I like having a truck that doesn't look cluttered with crap in the cab. For those of you who have Sirius in your 2nd Gen trucks, what model do you have and where did you mount it? Just out of curiosity, a 3rd Gen radio wouldn't fit in a 2nd Gen, would it?

I have an aftermarket Kenwood head unit, and have the Kenwood Sirius kit thing. The Sirius decoder sits in the glove box, and I control it through the head unit. You'd have to upgrade to an aftermarket unit, but other than that, it's a real clean looking install. No extra displays or boxes or anything. Let me know if you'd like more info on my setup.

I have the replay (streamer) i mounted it up next to the right of the rear view mirror. tucked all the wires in the headliner, down the a-pillar, into the fuse panel. took the + line into the ignition hot and ground it to the dash support. . Turns on with key and off with key. Clean, neat cant se any wires dosent abstruct view. And it looks pretty cool

I have the Starmate4 mounted in the center A/C outlet. I first installed it with the windshield antenna, but have found there always seems to be an FM station close enough to interfere with reception, no matter which FM preset I select. So, I ordered and have received the FM direct antenna connecter and will install it tomorrow.

Overall, the installation was pretty simple. the Quasi-wood trim on the dash is all that needed to be removed and required no tools to remove. Installation of the FM Direct also will require very little to install. every piece comes with installation instructions. The home unit will require a bit more as I will need to drill a brick wall to run the antenna outdoors.

I have a starmate mounted on a bracket that I got from Crutchfields. Its hard wired to the input of my rockford/fosgate head unit so I never have to worry about interference from other radio freqs with the FM modulation mode. I will try to attach a pic, but not promising it will work, LOL.

J-

two things I noticed after posting the pic 1) I really need to clean my cup holders and 2) I need to figure out what tp do with the dangling wires. LMAO.

J, thanks for the pic. I wonder if I could hide the unit in the ashtray conveniently. I don't smoke, so it's available space. I don't want to replace my stock Infinity CD/Cassette radio, unless the RBQ I have from my '05 will fit in there.

I dont see why you couldnt hid the unit, also maybe check with crutchfield and infinity and see if they make/carry an add on type box that could be mounted anywhere in the truck and connect to the radio and antenna. Also I know there are other makers of sirius receivers and some of them are pretty small.

Hope this helps

J-

I just installed the FM direct module today. This eliminates the interference from stations close by. Now it works and sounds great. It's too bad there is no good way to insert a picture anymore.
