All,

Not trying to open a "can of worms" here, just need a

little info. :-{}

A Buddy just purchased a wrecked 04 auto

to rebuild. I has the banks six gun on it already.

Does anyone know what each level "commands" as

far as timing and pressure increase? Does any level

give just timing. Any info would be appreciated.

Can the install instructions be downloaded on the Banks

site anywhere? Can't seem to find them.

Thanks,

Carl

Was it lunch time? Banks is closed at lunch rumor has it that parts of the site go to lunch too.

if the speed loader is not attached, level 6 is pretty mild pressure increase. If the speed loader is attached, level 6 is an aggressive pressure increase, but I would say not quite as aggressive as the other pressure boxes. see TDR issue #47 for dyno graphs of the six gun and a whole host of others.

the six gun uses a timing increase and I would say probably 20 HP comes from timing. that gives it an advantage in the rail pressure department, acheiving 90+ horsepower at a lower rail pressure than others without timing.

issue #48 will re-visit the subject of rail pressure. -Doug

Thats funny, 90+ hp increase!!!

The box says 125

Feels more like 65

Surging, noisy rattling, slugish

My EZ ran better than this POS. Scrap it and get something else! You just might be happier! My opinion anyway

Buddy said the same thing about the 6 gun. Took it off and put on an EZ because it made more power. Shoot me a pm with your mailing address and I'll send you out a Calvin Banks sticker.

I recommend reading of the dyno graphs. the six gun with speed loader is every bit as powerful as other aggressive pressure boxes in the "100HP" region. The EZ on level 6 would probably be more powerful, but raises rail pressure higher than Edge wants, and is no longer available except with the secret settings that get passed around on the forums. Today's EZ tested at 79 HP on the same dyno that measured 94 horsepower for the Banks.

Having studied and written about many of the 100 HP boxes (TDR issue 45, 47, 48), I'm no advocate for Banks or anyone else; just pointing out the facts. I found that on the test truck the six gun with speed loader took off like a house on fire. every bit as aggressive as the other boxes. came in a bit sudden for my personal taste, but the power is there. you have to go through the installation learning sequence correctly, though, or it will be sluggish, as I found out myself. its real picky.

and if you read the Banks web site carefully you find that they claim 87. 4 horsepower gain for the 305 HP dually.

Thanks for the info Doug.

I have been trying to convince my buddy to just leave the banks box on... . it was "free".

He is worried about hurting the transmission. I was trying to find out if the lower settings were mostly timing and would possibly help some with mileage. I will tell him to not run level 6. The batteries have been disconnected for a while. I have downloaded the install intructions. I figured we would have to go through the learing sequences again one he gets it fired up.

timing on the low settings isn't as much as on the high settings. I drove 700 miles on level 6 without the speed loader and found no fuel economy improvment. If you go through the learning sequence correctly, the box will learn what your gear ratios are and will learn to detect torque converter slip; then it will back off. it will also soften the Torque converter clutch lock-up event itself.

What are the learning sequences? My bud just put the banks 6 gun and speed loader on his 305hp truck and the damn thing don't work, or maybe it does? lol deff don't feel like the edge he had b4 if it is working...

Page 20 steps 55&56 for Auto, Page 21 steps A1 thru A4 for the speed Loader in the instruction manual. If you need the Manual I can send it in PDF. .

Dad's 03 box should be back about a week ago from getting checked out at Banks. We went through the learning crap before we sent it in and it didn't seem to do anything. Once it's reinstalled, are there any tricks to the learning other than what's in the instructions?? No speedloader.

My Juice is very easy to tell the difference between the settings. Will the Banks have similar seat of the pants differences if it's working right?

I've got the banks 6gun in my o4. 5. It works in my truck. The difference between setting 1 and setting 6 are night and day. My transmission seems to slip on settings 5 or 6 depending on when you plant your foot(stock 48re). But each change of the switch definately adds a little more power. Mine works ok, however, I do wish I had known a little more before I went with banks but it does seem to work. The learning sequence is a pain and I think you need to follow the order of things carefully.

Its just kinda retarded that its marketed as a plug and play type box, when in reality u gotta go through alota bs just to hope the thing works kinda right... . glad i didn't buy it 4 mine, and now i will never own a Banks product after this ordeal with my buds truck... .
