1999 3500, six speed , toasted the bearing between the imput shaft and the main,,,killed the 5-6 syncro, and retainer housing, ... only has 83k on it , and it ,,,,,, was lo on fluid... maybe had a quart in it.....

Reverse shaft collar is galled and lots of metal all around... .

Any imput on repair ,, would be help FUlLLLL

in this case being run dry, I agree get an exchange trans, you'll be better off IMO. I wouldnt reuse much in that trans exc the case, and the lower shaft that was riding in the oil. It must have gotten real hot

It really didnt coke up , or look as tho the rest of the bearings got hot...

I dont know if it got low on fluid and as the bearing went bad , it leaked more fluid out the input shaft. . or if the bearing failed then it started the leak. .

Oil all in the bell house , the guy thought it had a bad rear main, but it was the trans fluid in there. . any way I'm still wieghing the rebuild or replace it thing. .

A rebuilt here is aournd 3500, but so far the the parts to fix this one are around 1500, with labor, and a new clutch, its gonna get a bit--

spendeeeee... the frieght to bring one up is pretty high ... too. .
