What was the first year for the DEE 6 speed transmission?

Is 2001 the first year for the ETH engine?

Before I bought my 2001. 5 2500 ETH/DEE, I asked my brother in law about his 2000 2500. It has a six speed, and he doesn't know if he has the ETH engine. He says it's a 2000 model about 18 months old. I know the 2001's came out real early. I recently picked up my 2001. 5 ETH/DEE and asked the dealer about the ETH for 2000 and was told 2001 is the first year. Was the DEE available in the standard engine before the ETH came out? Maybe my brother in law has an early 2001 and doesn't even know it. Thanks for any info on this.

He has a ETC/DEE

Next best thing to a ETH/DEE

Although he does not have the same clutch as a ETH/DEE

6 speed

If I'm not mistaken, he not only doesn't have the ETH, his six speed has a smaller main shaft than the DEE in the 01 models. Smaller clutch as well.

While they are very rare the 6spd was available in spurts in 1999 and 2000. No they are not High Output ETH motors, just plain ETC motors. And yes,the transmission input shaft is the small diameter unit like the one used in the 5spd,that's why it has a 5spd clutch in it.

I have a 2000 2500 with the ETC/6spd. I had to wait 5 months for one to come in.

My buddy and fellow TDR member Rob Hanson has a 1999 3500 ETC/6spd. His was the first I heard of showing up in WA state.

ETC 6spds are cool. You can add all the honkin' horsepower that you want without the de-fueling kickin' in. They are rare though.

Yep... I have an ETC six speed, 1999. I ordered it on Dec. 8th, 1998, didn't get here til May13th or so, 1999. A long wait that I have never regretted!

Next best thing to an ETH DEE? Maybe, but just maybe the ETH DEE is the next best thing to an ETC DEE !!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D

Wow! I had no idea I was driving around in a rare vehicle. I have to admit that I was quite lucky when I bought my truck. I knew I wanted the Cummins, and that my uncle had fried a couple of automatics, so I just walked onto the local lot, took a test drive in the 6 speed, and told the dealer to wrap it up. Now you guys are telling me I'm driving a collector's model? Bids start at $35k.

Shooter,

You got it backwards,it's the other way around. When it comes to BOMBing an ETC the world is your oyster. You can get far more power than the ETH. And as for clutches, since these use the 5spd clutch, you have more choices to pick from.

Reggie,

I like your idea. Since I value my truck as much as the guy with the '98 listed in the TDR,my asking price will also be $46K. :p

Thanks for all the info. I'll past it on to my brother in law. Now I'll take the next step and get him into BOMBing his truck, now that we know what he has.
