Is it possible to use a new 6 speed in a '93 350 4x4? I have a friend who would like to do have this done this if it is feasible.

I just found an NV5600 at a cant pass up price. I remember reading about someone puting one in a first generation truck. Does anyone know what issue it was?

Thanks in advance,

Rod

Goto Quad4x4's web site and to www.drivetrain.com.

I just finished stripping a 91. 5 CTD Getrag 4x4 that will be the starting point to converting my 83 Dodge 1 Ton Crew Cab 4x4 to Cummins power. I will be swapping in the NV5600 during the conversion.

I noticed on the drivetrain.com site that the flywheel and clutch do not need to be replaced when going from Getrag to NV5600.

I know the starter, engine adapter, clutch slave, and a few other parts need to be changed to do the swap as well.

Good Luck

Maybe Joe D. could answer this but someone told me a Clark 5sp would fit in these things. Pretty tough from what I was told.

Since I don't have oars on my truck I can't attest to the accuracy on this though.

Just a thought.

edit: can=can't attest

I bought the latest issues pf both "4 Wheeler" and "4 Wheel Drive" and one of the mags had an article on putting an NV5600 in a '78 Ford F350.

The article gave the name of a company that makes a replacement front cover plate for the 5600 that DOES NOT have the integral bell housing but has the correct transmission bolt pattern. The project at hand was a Ford but other adapters are available. This repalcement cover allows you to bolt the 5600 to the current bell housing. It does require that the transmission be diaaseembled to make the swap.

Also need is a clutch disc with a 1. 375" X 10 or 1. 500" X 10(depending on the version of 5600) hole to replace the Getrag disc which is 1. 250" X 10.

Other items (cross member relocation, drive shaft lengthening/shortening, new hole for shifter, new bracket for transfer case, different pilot bearing, etc. ) may be needed.

Sorry, I can't be more specific on the article but I don't have the mags anymore.

You could call and talk to Blumenthals... they do this conversion all the time. We also provide a clutch that makes the swap easy.
