I'm using the Texaco lube. I couldn't find it in any stores. I have a 5 gallon jug of it ordered from the local Texaco dist. They had to order it so I don't think it's used in much besides the NV 5600?

There has got to be a alternative fluid on the market in quart containers. This transmission can't be so tempermental that it needs that special of a fluid!!!!!!Pete
 
I too love my 6 speed. I have alittle over 6000 miles on her and seems to be getting better each mile. At first mine was "tight" and it took a few miles for me to get used to the truck but she don't pop out of gear or grind, unless from drivers error. It would have been nice if then would have put "R" over by 1st or 2nd.

Pete, I'm with you, there has to be a source for gear lube in smaller containers. Has anyone tried the dealer? I'm sure they would have smaller containers, but their price may be more than Dane paid for a 5 gal bucket from Texaco. Does anyone know the dealer cost for enough dope for one change? Dane, how much did you give for 5 gals?

You might check with a TDR advertiser, Issue 30, page 88, Standard Transmission and Gear in Fort Worth, TX at 1-800-783-8726. At one time they were going to sell the same oil that the Dodge dealers have at a cheaper price in quart containers. I haven't called them yet.

The 5 gallon jug is $55. Did'nt even ask the dealier what they want. #ad
I change all transmission, transfer case and diff fluids at 30K with an initial change at 5-10K to remove the break-in metal, so it'll all get used.
