No, it's not what you think. :D

Does anyone know the size of the Pittman arm nut on the steering box?

I have the DSS and want to install tomorrow before it gets cold again.

I tried a 1 1/4 (too small) and a 1 5/16 (too big) wrench.

I am thinking a 32 mm perhaps? Yeah, I know. Mixing SAE and metric.....

Trouble is, I don't have the size at home and have to go buy it. I don't want to buy 27 different sizes just to get the correct one.

Thanks in advance

I wanna say I used my 32 or 34 MM Impact on it. However I tried all my SAE wrenches which go to 2" and none seemed to fit so now that I think of it It had to be metric

visegrips?

Tried the vise grips and a big honkin' pipe wrench. Began to be afraid of stripping the nut even though I don't have to re-use it.

That sucker is ON there, but good! Even used a boatload of PB Blaster solvent. May need to fire up the torch.....

Bought a 32 mm socket which is just a hair small. Can't yet find a 33 mm. Will keep trying 'till I get it right.

Would have been easier to buy a new truck.

BNH,

Just installed a DSS for a friend today. Used a 1 & 15/16" socket for the original pitman nut, and a 1 & 1/4" deep socket for the new pitman extension nut.

Easy install, took about 30 minutes. Took longer to get setup and put things away than to install DSS.

Buddy left with a :D

Good luck.
