Does anybody know what the size and thread pitch of the 6-speed shift lever is? I want to have a shop make me a new shift knob and need that. I hate the stock shift knob, it's just too wimpy.

Thanks!

Sounds like a plan Rob, when you get it made post some pics

At 50,000 miles my knob is thouroughly polished shiny and all the texture is gone. My folks' Jeep used to have a nice 8-ball shaped wooden shift knob that looked really cool. I thought of doing the B&M Hammerhead too. 85CJ, the Universal kit for the Hammerhead doesn't have the correct adapter already?

Another knob I was looking for was a leather-wrapped one to match the steering wheel but all the ones I've seen are too small and wimpy :(

Thread adapters

I don't remember which shift handle I ordered. I think I picked the one with the metric adapters, but which ever one I recieved it didn't fit.

At the time I placed the order I didn't know which adapter I needed, and once I had it I just wanted it on the truck... so I just drilled and tapped a bolt that fit the handle.

I think the handle hole is 16mm or 5/8 N. F. Both bolts fit. I can tell you now though, you don't want to tap a grade 8 bolt. It destroyed my craftsman tap. On hindsite I would have looked for a brass bolt to make my adapter out of.
