Towing with lifted Truck

camper shell

Well, we finally did it. It's my birthday and my wife bought me a trading post. I asked if she'd buy anything in it, too, and whaddya know? We just bought a skamper slide in, 8'6" with a pop up top. I think we got a pretty good deal on it, and it is what we need for the growing family. No more sleeping in the cab if it rains on camping trips.

The big question is:

It was made for a skinny 4 wheel truck, how do I fit my training wheels past the jacks?

Cheers,

Drew

the fine print: it's a 1994 "86S", model 7333C881, with a norcold fridge, rooftop AC, stove, furnace, and a real toilet - no portapotty.

There are swing out jack mounts available for campers that are used on dual wheel trucks. They swing out enough to clear your wheels when loading and unloading and then swing back against the camper when the camper is on board. Most camper dealers carry them or can order some for you.

Ditto the above on the swingout adapters for your jacks. But I found on my dually the clearance was only about an inch on each side so I added a 3" piece of flat metal to both sides between the swing hinge and the jack that gives a much better clearance. Still folds back out of the way fine.
